Fix Your Eyes On Him

Psalm 27:8, When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.”

I can remember times when I was trying to talk with my children when they were little I would have to say, “look at me, so I know you are listening.”  I needed their full attention in order to know that whatever it was that I was trying to communicate to them was being fully heard.  God wants your full attention.  He wants you to look at Him, give Him your eyes so He knows you are listening.  He wants you to focus on His face.  He wants you to seek Him with your whole heart because He holds the future and He holds your answers.

It says in Isaiah 26:3, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You because he trusts in You.”  That requires keeping your eyes on Him.  Don’t allow all that is going on around you to rob you of His peace.  Oh trust me, I totally get that the craziness can become overwhelming and it may get to a point where you wish you could just “handle” things your own way, but look at Him and let Him guide you and let Him handle it.  Don’t lose sleep over it, fix your heart and mind on God.

Spend more time in His Word and in prayer.  You can’t make up some of the craziness going on in the world and it is all the more reason for us to make sure our eyes are fixed on God.  Abby was talking with me about the discussion in her youth group last night and she was excited that there was another teen who truly seems to be fixed on making God a priority by being in His Bible and listening to the right music, reading the right things and watching things that would honor God.  We all need to be intentional in our lives and in guiding our children.  It will matter in your walk with God and theirs.  Don’t be complacent ~ God cares about the details.  He can’t guide you into His best if you are settling for less.

Spend time with Him today.  Schedule time every day don’t just hope you will have time, make Him a priority.  Allow Him to fill you with His peace.
