Follow The “Light”…

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

There is a lot of darkness in the world right now and there can be times when you just aren’t sure what to believe about what you are told.  Jesus has offered to be our light and to show us what is true and what is right, but you must walk in it so you can be a light in the darkness.  If there were ever a time when the world needed us to walk in His light, it is now!

If you don’t saturate yourself in His word and strive to follow Him, it would be very easy to find yourself on a path headed in the wrong direction and wondering how you got there!  There are all sorts of distractions that Satan is trying to put in your way to get you off track and away from God’s peace and truth. There is a wonderful island in Michigan called Mackinaw Island.  On one of my visits I had here years ago with my family:  The typical thing to do when you are there is to rent bikes and ride them around the outside of the island.  There are no cars there, so the only way to get around is to either walk, rent bikes, ride a horse or take a carriage.  On that day, we all rented bikes, and my sister and her husband and children were with us.  My brother-in-law suggested we ride in some different directions instead of just the 9 miles around so of course, we followed him!  At one point he suggested that we take a trail that was more of a path than a road and we seriously questioned him about the fact that it was named, “Horse Jumping Trail”!  Hellooooo!  After quite some time of carrying our bikes (these were big, old, heavy, clunky bikes, not lightweight mountain bikes) over logs and “stuff” on the trail and being eaten alive by mosquitos, we were out and vowed to never follow him again!  We all laugh about that now, but trust me, none of us have forgotten it!  My point is this; there are a lot of people and things vying for your attention but in spite of it all, you must choose to follow Him!  Choose light!  It says in Psalm 119: 105, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”  He has promised to shed His light on your path to guide you in the ways you need to go!  You don’t want to wake up one day and find yourself in the middle of some, “horse jumping trail”!

God’s word is light, and in a very dark world, if there is one thing you need it is His light.  He loves you and wants to guide you in all that you do and when you allow Him to do that, you can fully know that the best is yet to come, no matter what you are facing today!
