Freedom Will Be Found In The Truth

by | May 11, 2018

John 8:31-32
So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

If you want true freedom it will be found in God’s word but here’s the thing…… this verse doesn’t say, if you play Bible bingo or glance through my word, it says if you abide in my word. Abide ~ live there ~ eat, breathe and drink there, allow His word to soak in and fill your life. When we know the truth of what God has to say about us, those around us, our circumstances and especially Who He is, then we will be free!

When we abide in God’s word, we learn how and when the battle with Satan is to be fought. There are times we need to be sure we are equipped and there are times when we need to give the battle fully over to God. Ephesians 6: 10-18, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” Satan has waged war against you and He is just looking for that way in but God will guide you and protect you but you need to be soaking in, breathing in His word.

Do not allow yourself to be in bondage over some secret sin either. Satan would love for you to think that you can overcome it on your own, or that you have it so well hidden, no one will ever know but freedom is found in the truth. God’s blessing is found in the truth! Numbers 32: 23b, “and be sure your sin will find you out.” God knows it all anyhow and He knows that your freedom is on the other side of truth so you can be sure that if you are trying to hide it, He will reveal it in order to bring truth and freedom. When we hide sin it leaves a wide open door for other sins which will just cause more bondage and pain. God will give you all the strength you need to face whatever you need to face, don’t allow that thing to grow in the dark.

Knowing the truth also means to understand how much Forgiving will free your heart, soul and mind. Holding on to that burden that someone has done to you will grow into something horrible and bitter. Allow God’s truth to teach you to forgive and to forgive quickly and you will find freedom like never before. Don’t allow something that someone has done hold you back from all of the goodness of God. Let it go and have all of Him, that doesn’t mean you have to trust that person or even have them back into your life, it means you have given all they have done to you over to God and you are giving up your desire for revenge! Let God handle that side of things and move on to bigger and better things you can do for God by not carrying that burden around.

Seek the truth today in all that you do. Determine to start soaking in His Word today and find true freedom in the days to come!
