Get Rid of The Baggage So You Can Move Forward Serving Him

Proverbs 21:2. Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the heart.

Justifying sin in your life won’t make it right.  Satan is great at lying to you, we all know that.  He can convince you to feel defeated or depressed and he will do his best to get you to think that if you just justify your sin because of what someone else is or isn’t doing or because that’s just the way you are, then God will somehow overlook it!  Not true!  God looks at our hearts and He weighs our actions based on what His word has to say about it.  Satan will try to make you believe that there is no way out and yet God is and always will be our great deliverer!  Hiding sin or justifying it in your own mind will not make it go away and it will not deliver you from the consequences of your sin.  The only way to find deliverance is in Him! Let’s determine to start this new year off right by dropping the baggage of sin that is weighing us down! Give it all to God and allow Him to give you victory over any and everything you struggle with.

Confession is the first step to getting your heart right with Him and those around you!  Without confession there is no accountability to help you turn from that sin and encourage you to continue on the right path.  Sins of addiction especially require you to have an accountability partner.  You need someone that you can talk to when you are struggling.  Finding an accountability partner shows tremendous strength and maturity!  It is never a sign of weakness, it shows that you are willing to accept responsibility for an area you are struggling in and you have chosen to defeat Satan in that area by finding “backup”!  A true sign of weakness is when you choose to hide your sin and not accept responsibility and fight to make things right!  God has promised victory over every area we may struggle in, it is our choice to allow Him to give us that victory!  Jeremy Camp’s song, “Same Power” does a great job of reminding us that “the same power that rose Jesus from the grave, lives in us”.  We have that power living in us to give us victory today!

If you know someone today who is struggling, pray about encouraging them in the Lord.  Don’t take a pious attitude, we are not God’s judges!  But if you are in a position to speak into that persons life already, encourage them to walk in God’s light and do what is best and right so that they can be all God has created them to be!  Hidden sins destroy!  We are called to be His light to others and that cannot be done by hiding in the dark!
