Give It All You’ve Got

Psalm 62:12b For you will render to a man according to his work.

What if we all were paid based on how hard we work?  I was in sales for several years and in a lot of respects, a salesperson does get paid based on their work.  Even if you are salary, your bonuses come from your putting everything you’ve got into what you are doing.  I have seen some jobs though, where I watched people get paid no matter what they did while they were there.

If you are stuck in a job that you don’t like and it doesn’t seem to fit anything you feel you are called by God to do, stop for a moment and understand that God doesn’t do anything without a reason behind it.  If you are there, glorify Him in how you do your job, how you treat other employees and your boss and do you work as though God Himself was going to do your six-month review.  If you are there, then there is something you can learn where you are that will help you when God moves you to the next level.  God is always moving forward, He doesn’t backtrack.  Even if you have taken a wrong turn, He is working everything into getting you where you are called to be!  That is His purpose for all that He is doing in your life ~ to get you to all that He created you to be!

I can look back over my life and I have had some strange jobs, some I loved and some, well, not so much!  I enjoyed most of the jobs that I had even though I knew it was not what I felt God had called me to do!  I told my sister Jean one day that it amazes me how God will perform what He has told you and called you to do if you will just keep following Him!  Even if you take a road you shouldn’t have at some point, He is faithful to bring it all together like only He can to perform His call on your life in you!  2 Chronicles 7:14 tells us, “if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”  No matter where you are or what you have done in your past, God can take where you are, right here, right now, and head you in the direction you are called to be in if you will just give it all to Him!  If you have been following Him and you just feel like you are wasting your time with this job you have been given because it is not your passion, ask Him what you are to learn there.  There is a reason you are there and it may be to learn or it may be that God is using you in someone else’s life!  Trust Him, this time will not go to waste!  This job is there to train you for the next level so do it with all your heart and soul!  Be a good testimony!

Now, maybe, just maybe you are thinking that this isn’t for you because you are doing ministry already. (Ministry is anything God has given you to do ~ you can be a janitor at the school or a server at a restaurant, an executive in a large corporation, ministry is an attitude, not just a particular job) Are you doing it with all your heart are you really putting everything you’ve got into it or have you gotten comfortable?  It can be easy to settle into ministry and not be the visionary you were in the beginning.  Get your passion back!  Ask God to give you a fresh vision and to give you a passion for all He has called you to so you can have His full blessing on all that you are doing.  Don’t limit God in what He can do through you because you aren’t giving it your all!

One other thing….. this applies to your children as well, don’t give up if they aren’t where you feel they should be in life, God will bring them around.
