God Wants To Heal That Abused and Wounded Heart

by | Dec 12, 2015

Isaiah 61:3
To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.

Today’s study is not our typical, and at first may seem a bit unusual for this time of year, but it is close to my heart and the healing answers come from that baby born in a manger that we are celebrating.

Abuse comes in many different forms; sexual abuse, physical abuse and verbal abuse along with mental, emotional and they are all acts that come straight from Hell. If you have been abused in any way then you know how deep that hurt goes. Today I want to encourage you to be sure you have stopped the abuse from continuing in your own mind!

Maybe you were abused as a child. I was molested as a child. Maybe you were raped when you were a teenager. I know both men and women who were sexually abused as children and women who have been kidnapped and abused and I have dealt with women who were in physically abusive relationships, I have seen the hurt, I have experienced the hurt! I get it.

First and foremost; if you have been abused in any way, you need to seek out godly counsel. Check with your church or go to www.aacc.net but find someone to walk you through a process of healing. If you are still in an abusive situation you need to find a way out or a way to make it stop!

Now, before we go any further we need to address the question everyone who has ever been abused in any way asks: “Why did God allow it?” or “Why didn’t He make it stop!”
Terrible things happen all the time, all over the world and those questions are constantly being asked. The best answer I can say I have found is that God created us with a free will and if He starts to intervene and make us do what is right we no longer have a free will to choose Him. He created all of us with the choice to do right and to choose Him! He even created us with this huge void inside that only He can fill. People choose to sin! It is wrong and it is devastating and that is why God was willing to send His son to die for us! He loves you so much and His heart grieves every time you are hurt in any way! Even when you are a parent, as badly as you would like to, there is no way to stop your child from being hurt, we can’t force them to always obey and we can’t protect them from everything. I get tired of people making it sound as though God never gets angry! Yes, He does! He gets angry over sin! He gets angry when someone hurts His children! God is just so amazingly gracious that His grace extends beyond anything we can fathom, but payday is coming too! Matthew 18:6, “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned the depth of the sea.” Romans 12:19, “beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,’ says the Lord.” Does that sound like a God who doesn’t care? He loves you and He wants to heal your wounded heart! Yes, He is willing to forgive and extend His grace to all of us when we sin, but that doesn’t mean He doesn’t care!

I could probably write a whole book on this, but I want you to fully understand this today: You don’t deserve abuse! God doesn’t want you to be abused! It is a natural response of one who has been abused to think deep down that, that is what they deserve. You don’t deserve hurt! You don’t deserve to be treated like that! You deserve to be treated like royalty! You deserve to be treated with respect and all the love in the world! God wants you to be healed! He wants you to feel whole! He wants you to understand deep down into your core that you deserve the best in how others treat you! God loves you with a love that is so far beyond your comprehension and that is what He wants to fill your heart with! He wants to heal your wounded heart and mind! He wants you to be all He created you to be! Don’t settle, you deserve to be treated like a child of the king!
