1 Samuel 23:7
Now it was told Saul that David had come to Keilah. And Saul said, “God has given him into my hand, for he has shut himself in by entering a town that has gates and bars.”
It is amazing that King Saul could possibly think that He would have God’s favor, not only in his pursuit against David but also because he had just ordered that all of the priests of God be killed. Saul’s insecurities drove him to the point of being very self-centered, somehow he never chose to be God-centered, it was always all about him. He allowed his temper to rule his days, he had no self control, he even threw a spear at his son one day because his son helped David. King Saul was a mess and instead of humbling himself and getting things right with God and those he had sinned against, he figured he could just decide one day that it was ok and he was going to have God’s favor, just like that. It doesn’t work that way.
You cannot live however you choose and sin against God and those around you and expect to have God’s favor all at the same time. You also can’t just try to sweep the wrong you have done under the rug, thinking that it will just go away, God has made it clear in His word that He will bring to light those things done in secret and you can be sure your sin will be found out so why not just make it right now? It is God’s will for you to repent, and that you start again with a clean slate and Satan will do all he can to stop you. Don’t allow Satan to have another victory by buying his lies about repenting too. He will do his best to keep that thing held over your head by him so he can use it to defeat you in the future.
God wants you to live a victorious life for Him. Don’t waste another day in defeat because of something that should be dealt with. God wants you to be able to life that life He has for you, free of guilt and shame, but you must confess first and make things right. We like to claim the verses that say, “there is therefore now no condemnation” because of Jesus and that is true, but we must confess our sins and choose to live the life He has called us to live, that isn’t a license to live however we choose and yet claim God’s blessing. Choose Him today, pray for those you know are choosing to live a life that is off the path God has for them. Walk with those who are asking for restoration, don’t turn your back on them. “Choose you this day, whom you will serve” and walk in it! His best will come when you whole heartedly follow Him!
