God’s Grace

2 Chronicles 28: 10-11  And now you intend to subjugate the people of Judah and Jerusalem, male and females, as your slaves.  Have you not sins of your own against the Lord your God?  Now hear me, and send back the captives from your relatives whom you have taken, for the fierce wrath of the Lord is upon you.

I believe in the New Testament Jesus worded it like this:  “Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.”  I don’t think we sometimes realize that when we spend time making sure that we make people “pay” for their sins the way we feel they should we are bringing God’s judgement and wrath on our own heads.  What happened to grace?  Why are we so quick to become the judge instead of the grace of God?  Who do we really believe we are?  We need to be careful that we are not trying to overstep what God has called us to do.

I have watched lately as people will take the sins of one person and decide that their sins are much worse than someone else’s sin and my question is “based on what?”  Sin is sin ladies and it is all bad!  None of it is ok or good or maybe just a little bad, it all had to be paid for on the cross!  God hates sin but it isn’t our call to be the judge or the jury at this point – we are called to be the ones who reach out to restore and show grace and love.  Are there times for correction and times for people to step down from their positions?  Yes and position should not excuse the sin but all correction should be done in a Biblical fashion, not swept under the rug, not ignored and also not done in a way that you are throwing the baby out with the bath water.

God’s desire is to restore.  As it says in Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”  We all fall short of God’s glory that is why Jesus died on the cross so grab that “sister in Christ” and love on her and draw her back to God by showing His grace and mercy.  Listen to her heartache, get the real story ask how you and the church can help get her back on the right track to be all she can be for God!  How much more glory do you think God will get from someone being restored than just judged and left by the wayside?  We are in a battle ladies and we need to be sure we are not killing our own, Satan does a good enough job without our help!
