Have You Lost Who You Are

2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Have you ever felt as though you have lost yourself in a relationship or lost yourself due to overwhelming circumstances or loss?  Have you felt as though you just aren’t yourself anymore?  Where did you go?  Who have you become?  Are you depressed?  How did you end up “here”? Maybe it isn’t you but maybe it’s someone you know that you have seen the change and you are concerned.

It is time to get you back!  It is time for you to open yourself up to that Spirit of power from God that will break that depression, that can restore who you are, and can give you back your sound mind!  It is time to rise up and take yourself back!  Satan has held you down long enough and today we say, “No more!”  I am not saying; abandon your meds, if you are taking medication, sometimes medication is necessary for a while, but you can still allow God to lift you up and fill you with His joy and power in your life!

We often read the verses in Ephesians 6:10-17 and we understand that we are fighting a spiritual battle, but have you ever read them and applied them to how you feel today?  “Finally be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.  Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.  Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.  Stand therefore having fastened on the belt of truth,(what does God say today about who you are), and having put on the breastplate of righteousness (your past is in the past and you are a new creation in Christ ~ that battle you have been fighting has already been won on the cross!), and as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. (God has given you His peace, it is yours for the taking)  In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one, and take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”  Plant God’s word in your heart and mind and when Satan and his little minions come after you ~ remind them that you are whole in Christ, tell them to leave you alone in Jesus’ name.  You are a daughter of the King of Kings!  God loves you more than you can love yourself and He wants you to rise up today in His strength to be all you were created to be!

We cannot walk in our own strength.  God has promised to give us all the strength we need.  2 Corinthians 12:10 tells us, “Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake.  For when I am weak, then I am strong.”  He will carry you through, He will give you the strength you need and that sound mind you long for!  He can heal your broken heart and lift you out of that depression!  Hold on to His promises.  Remember that this is and will be a daily choice until He gets you through to the other side.  It takes a while to get to where you are and it may take some time to get you back but the choice is yours today!  Don’t hesitate and don’t wait because you know in your heart that God sees and He cares and He has a plan for your life! He didn’t bring you this far to only bring you this far!
