Proverbs 19:20-21 Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future. Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.
Have you prayed about that decision or sought Godly advice? When you take your own route and do your own thing, you are just taking the long way to get to the purpose God created you for! God puts other people in our lives who often have wisdom we can draw from to keep us from taking the wrong path in life, trouble comes when we just don’t want to hear it and we decide to just do our own thing.
If you read Acts chapter 27 you see where Paul told the leaders on the ship they were sailing on that they shouldn’t continue but needed to stay where they were for that season but they continued on. The storm was overwhelming that they ran into and they lost almost everything except their lives. They eventually got to where they were supposed to go and God used them in the way that they took but it was a stormy route to take! There are times in my own life that I can look back on and I can see now that the “storm” I went through was brought on by my not seeking out the advice of godly people, or following what I knew God was leading me to do, I was just set in my mind with what I was going to do and had no desire for any outside advice. It wasn’t that my desires were necessarily wrong, it just may not have been God’s timing or direction to accomplish His plan.
Where are you headed right now? Is God being consulted or have you “got this”? Have you found that you are in the middle of something and you are beginning to realize that it is a mess and you may have jumped the gun a bit on God’s plans and now it may take you a while to get to where He is taking you? Trust that His purpose will stand! He will accomplish in you all that He created you to be if you will just trust Him and follow Him! It is His plan that matters and it is His purpose that will stand! Trust Him, He knows you better than you know yourself! He knows where you need to be and what you need to be doing in order for you to fulfill the life He created you to live! He knows better than you do what will make you happy! Look at people who seemingly have “it all” and yet they are on drugs or committing suicide; they thought fortune and fame would make them happier but it hasn’t.
Where are you today in life? Do you feel fulfilled in what you are doing? Do you feel as though you are in the center of God’s plan and purpose for your life? I can guarantee you that 10 years ago I would never have possibly dreamed that God would put me smack dab in the middle of Ladies’ ministry! I would never have dreamed that my heart could be so overwhelmingly burdened for other women or that I could have this much compassion for the pain that other women are carrying! I was so broken and hurt over the years from the pain I felt was brought on by other women that doing ministry to be a part of God’s outreach to heal the wounded hearts of women around the world wasn’t even a consideration. God is so good and He will use whatever you have been through in life to bring you to His purpose for your life! He can use it all! The good, the bad and the ugly can all be used to reach others for Him and His purpose! Don’t settle and don’t lose hope for all that He has called you to be! He loves you! Seek Him, listen to advice, and accept instruction so you are prepared for all that He is calling you to be! The best is yet to come!
