He Is The Answer For That Pit You Are In

Psalm 40:2. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps.  (NKJV)

Do you ever find yourself getting going in the morning, dragging yourself out of bed, trying to find the strength and motivation to go after all that you have to accomplish that day?  In fact, you may not have anything grandiose that you need to do, but you just can’t seem to get a grip on the anxiety and overwhelming frustration you feel.

Obviously the Psalmist here was at the point where he just had no idea how to pull himself up out of that pit of despair that he was in.  “Miry clay” is that slimy, mucky clay that you just can’t climb, so if you are in a pit that is covered in it, there’s just no way to get a foothold to be able to climb out, you would find yourself just sliding back to the bottom.  So, no matter what he had tried, he just wasn’t finding a way out until he turned his eyes to God and God lifted him out and set his feet on a rock and established his steps.

When you allow the Lord to establish your steps, you can be sure that you are headed in the right direction!  When you allow Him to lift you up out of that pit you are in, you will find the strength to get through another day!  It doesn’t mean you will never have a bad day or anxiety (some anxiety is literally a physical ailment so don’t allow anyone to make you feel ashamed or guilty because you face days of anxiety, some anxiety is caused by foods you may be eating and some can be a temporary chemical imbalance due to hormones, etc.), but it does mean there are hope and strength to be found to help you through and it is found in the ONE who can lift you up out of that pit and set you on solid ground!  He loves you and He wants His best for you and clearly it isn’t found in a pit of despair!  Trust Him, grab on to His hand and allow Him to guide your steps, one day at a time!  Do today what He gives you the strength to do!  Don’t try tackling tomorrow’s problems, today is enough.

If you have a lot to do and that is overwhelming you, stop and take the time to make a list and prioritize it.  I find something very satisfying about being able to cross things off my list each day, it helps me see what I have been able to accomplish.  Set some goals for your week, for what you want to accomplish and then break it down day by day and make sure that you schedule time in for you and for your family!  Don’t take on more than you can do without getting overwhelmed, it is ok to say “no, that isn’t going to fit in this week with everything else I have going on”.  It’s ok!  You will find that if you can get a grip on your schedule, including time alone with God, then other things will start to come together as well.  You will also feel better, knowing you have a plan and everything doesn’t have to be done today!

Focus on God!  Ask Him for His direction and strength today!  Rest in Him!  Know that you have limits and that is ok!  One day and one task at a time!  Ask Him to pull you up out of that pit today and to set you on firm ground where you can take a deep breath, knowing it’s ok, He’s got you!  Hold your head up, put a smile on your face, knowing that you are His Girl!  He loves you and will give you the strength to do what He has called you to do!  The best is yet to come!
