He Wants His Light and Love to Shine Through You!

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.  The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Is this true for you?  Have you given your life to Christ, and are you living your life to glorify Him?  We will never be perfect, and we will have struggles as long as we are living here on this earth, but is your heart’s desire to live for Him?  Have you really given Him first place in your life, or are there things you don’t want to give up, so you are picking and choosing what places He can have?

I see so many people questioning God and His love these days, and yet the majority of the people questioning are those who have chosen to leave God out of their lives until they see or experience a need.  We have removed God from everything and then question where He is ~ how does that make any sense?  We teach that because He is gracious and merciful, sin doesn’t seem to bother Him anymore, and yet God is as disgusted by sin today as He ever was!  If it disgusts us, how do you think God sees it?  Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and yes, God’s grace and mercy extend beyond our comprehension, but that doesn’t mean we are free to just do whatever we please. Too many Christians are getting caught up in gossip and hate-filled attacks against people and ministries they know nothing about, hindering what God is doing through them. We must be careful, as it says in James 3:6-10, “The tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.”

We are called to be holy and live godly lives because He is holy and because we love Him!  So, is your love showing?  Are your thoughts toward Him, or focused on you?  If you truly love God, your desire to please Him and live for Him will continue to grow as that love grows.  We need more of Him in our everyday lives!  How will other people ever be drawn to God if there’s nothing different about our lives?  Life on earth is short compared to eternity, and you have one opportunity to take that little bit of time and make a difference for all eternity!  Do you want your life to count for Him?  Do you want to make a difference, or are you too focused on what you think you should be getting out of your life?  How great an impact do you want your life to have?  The choice is yours, but you must choose because, as William James once said, “When you have a choice and don’t make it, that is in itself a choice.”  If you don’t choose to live for God, you have chosen a life without Him!  Choose Him today and allow Him to work in you to create a difference in the lives of those around you!  Be the difference the world needs by allowing His light and love to shine in and through you!
