He Will Fight For You

Joshua 11: 1-5. When Jabin, king of Hazor, heard of this, he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph, and to the kings who were in northern hill country, and in  the Arabah south of Chinneroth, and in the lowland, and in Naphoth-dor on the west, to the Canaanites in the east and the west, the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, and the Jebusites in the hill country, and the Hivites under Hermon in the land of Mizpah.  And they came out with all their troops, a great horde, in numbers like the sand that is on the seashore, with very many horses and chariots.  And all these kings joined their forces and came and encamped together at the waters of Merom to fight against Israel.

Have you felt lately like everywhere you turn, it seems as though all Hell is coming against you!  Here you are trying to do the will of God and you thought you had come to your “promised land” with that new job or marriage or whatever it may be and now it just seems like everything that could be going wrong is!  In fact, there are things going wrong that you never even thought could possibly happen!  Why?  Did you miss it?  What is going on?  If you read on in this chapter, God brought them against Israel so Israel would trust Him and obey the commands He had given Moses, to clean the land of all of the wickedness going on so they wouldn’t follow the manmade gods of those people.

In Verse 6 of this chapter, it says:  And the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them for tomorrow at this time I will give over all of them, slain to Israel.”  Even though it looked like an impossible situation, God had a plan and He was going before them to give victory!  Everyone coming against them wasn’t a mistake, it was to clear the land faster and to teach them once again to trust God ~ the battle wasn’t theirs (and it isn’t yours) it was the Lord’s!  Remember too that if you have “friends or family” that you are struggling with that the battle coming against you is spiritual, they are not the enemy!  Unfortunately, they can choose to walk hand in hand with the enemy if they aren’t careful, we are all capable of that.  Pray!  If you are following God and you are doing what He has called you to and the odds seem to have all turned against you, you can trust that the battle is His and He will prove Himself mighty.  He may just be clearing the way and it is going to look worse for a bit before it gets better, but you can trust Him to see you through!

The victory that day for the Israelites was massive!  God showed up and showed Himself mighty and He can do the same for you!  Verse 23 of this chapter says, “And the land had rest from war.”  They could have had to fight every one of those battles one by one, but God allowed them all to come against them at once and that way it was finished!  They could have rest from war and enjoy the land God had given them!

If everything seems to have come against you lately I would encourage you to not give up!  Hold on to your hope in Him with everything you’ve got!  Know that He has a plan!  Trust Him to see you through!  Do what you can today that He has put in front of you and don’t get discouraged, He will give you everything you need to succeed if you will just follow Him!  The best is yet to come!
