He Would Like To Fill You With Hope and Light

Matthew 5:14,  “You are the light of the world.  A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.”

The only way to be the light is to seek the Light!  You can’t be full of something that you neglect.  If you don’t eat food then you would never be full, you would starve and well let’s face it people would see less and less of you over time because of the amount of weight you would be losing.  There are times it wouldn’t hurt for some of us to miss a few meals, but it is not a way to live a healthful life.  We all know and have heard that we need to make wise food choices and it’s the same with your spiritual food.

You may not see what you feed your mind always as “spiritual” but it is!  You are either feeding your mind something that is pleasing to God or it is from the world, in other words, satan. I’m not saying that everything in the world is from satan, there are a lot of good books, tv shows, movies, music, etc., that are good and positive that you can watch that may not be about the Bible, but there’s a lot that isn’t good!  You must choose wisely, just as you would your food in order to have a healthy mind and heart.  The Bible tells us in Matthew 12:33-35, “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit.  Brood of vipers!  How can you, being evil speak good things?  For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.  A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.”  What you feed your heart will come out of your mouth!  I can remember when it used to be against the law for men to swear in public when women and children were present, it wasn’t really that long ago, and now you hear children using swear words in public that they should never know.  We would all love to see revival and I keep hearing people say that we are on the edge of some great revival, but that would have to begin with Christians getting their hearts right with God.  That is what we need to focus on ~ living lives that shine the light of God’s word to the world!  What are you feeding your heart the majority of the time?

We can all use more hope in our everyday lives and that hope comes from God.  The world is lacking hope and the only way for them to know that there is hope is for us to live lives that will show that.  God loves you and He wants a close relationship with you!  He doesn’t want to just be pulled off the shelf when you have a need.  He wants to walk with you through everything that comes your way, whether it is good or bad!  We are not to live as though we have no hope because there’s always hope when you are walking with God.  The more you fill your heart and mind with the Word of God the more you will shine for Him and others will see Him in you and the hope He has to offer!

Allow God to fill you with His light and His hope so you can draw others to Him.  Our time on earth is so short and eternity is what we are supposed to be living for.  How many other people would you like to see drawn to your Savior by the Light that shines through your life?  Believe me, all hell will come against you to try to discourage you as you determine to focus on God, but ask Him for His strength and follow Him and serve Him regardless of what anyone else may say.  Seek God with your whole heart!  Don’t miss out on a moment that could be spent with Him.  Carry Joshua 1:8 with you, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it.  For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”  I challenge you today to do that first and watch tv second and see how it changes everything, not just in you but in those around you.
