Deuteronomy 13:4 It is the Lord your God you must follow, and Him you must revere.  Keep His commands and obey Him; serve Him and hold fast to Him.

Over and over, the Israelites were told to follow God, and over and over they would follow Him for a while, and then they would wander and do their own thing until they were in trouble and needed Him.  Why?  Why do we make that same mistake at times?  Why do we find it so difficult to just follow Him?  How do we ever come up with the idea that we can plan better than God or that we can somehow protect ourselves or those we love better than He can?

Have you ever felt impressed on by God to give your children over to God?  To let go of that death grip you have that makes you think you are protecting them, and give them totally over to Him?  I will say that no matter how old they get, you will find yourself having to do that over and over, but it is important.  Think about it, seriously, do you think somehow you are protecting them from God?  Well, that seems like a foolish thought, doesn’t it, but if that isn’t who you think you are protecting them from, just who or what do you think you can protect them from that God couldn’t do better?  I can remember having the fear that if I gave my children over to God, they would die or end up with some terrible disease; those are lies from satan himself, and you need to toss them aside!  God loves you and those you love more than you do, and He has a plan!  I may wear this verse out for you, but you need to constantly remind yourself that, as it says in Jeremiah 29:11-13, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

Remember too, “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and of a sound mind.”  2 Timothy 1:7  Once again, there should be no fear associated with following God and His plan! Fear is the opposite of faith, and therefore, you can be certain that the fear of following Him is straight from hell!  Hold fast to Him as it says in the verse above!  Trust Him, know that He loves you and cares about you, and He sees the big picture!  He will do what is best!  

Whatever is holding you back from following Him today, give it to Him!  Ask God to give you His boldness and confidence to follow Him.  He knows the way you need to go, so trust him, don’t hold anything back from Him today.  What in life do you think you can protect yourself from better than He can?  Follow Him with your whole heart, and you will find that His best is yet to come.
