How Close Are You?

Colossians 1:27-28  To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.  Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ.

We all love teaching on having faith and the favor of God and it is necessary for us to hear those things and believe that God loves us and wants to bless us just as we love to bless our children.  How do you feel though when you hear about spiritual growth, do you get as excited as you do about hearing that God is getting ready to bless you?  Hmmmmmm

God’s goal for us is for us to continually strive for spiritual growth.  Yes, He wants to bless you but He also wants a close relationship with you!  How would your marriage relationship be if all your husband wanted from you was for you to speak positive things and always bless him but never let him know when something needed to change.  What if your husband really couldn’t care less about actually having a close relationship with you he was only in it for him?  Trust me, I know of some marriages like that and they don’t last long.  Just as you long for a close relationship with your spouse or boyfriend God longs for a close relationship with you – a give and take sort of relationship where you continuously strive to know Him better!  There’s nothing like having a relationship with someone who takes the time to truly know you and cares about what matters to you.  God wants you to know Him on that level as well.

Our hope and blessing does come from God and He loves to pour it out on His children but because He loves you so much He also wants to walk through life with you.  He wants your relationship with HIm to grow on a daily basis.

What is it that you are striving for right now?  Are you after a better position in your job and you are giving it all you’ve got?  Do you want a nicer house, a designer purse, a better relationship, what exactly are you pouring your energy into?  Would you be willing to take the next 30 days and pour that much energy into your walk with God?  Would you be willing to pursue Him like you would that really nice looking guy you would like to have a relationship with?  I am not asking you to give up those other things you want like a better position at work, nicer house, designer purse, better relationship or anything else you are deeply desiring as long as it is within God’s boundaries, I am just asking that you put that much energy into your relationship with God too.  30 days ladies, that isn’t that long to just try it!  Ask God to guide you and show you areas that you can get to know Him better in, areas that you have been holding back that you need to give to Him.  He will be happy to guide you to know Him more!  As you get to know Him more truly the best is yet to come!
