Jeremiah 29:13, “you will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
Do you ever have those moments or days when you just feel as though you are walking alone and not really feeling God’s presence? It feels as though He is at a distance, you know He is there, and you know you are still walking with Him, but you are missing His presence.
It is so easy to get caught up in what needs to be done or maybe even vacation or the holidays, and before you know it, your day is gone and you are so exhausted that you collapse in bed knowing you have missed your quality time with Him. It happens to everyone at times if we aren’t careful.
If you want His presence, you must seek Him with all your heart. Even doing something like watching “The Chosen” series can be great for you and your family. Choose carefully what you read and watch. Look at the book of Esther: Vashti was not about to waltz in for her husband on his whim, so he could show off how beautiful his wife was. She was busy and had a banquet herself that she was attending and overseeing and wasn’t about to respond to his drunk request. Too often we can behave like King Xerxes and treat God in a way that is not giving Him the respect He deserves. He is the One and only, mighty and Holy God who deserves our utmost respect. It’s like saying, “Yup, yup, I hear you, God, but I am a bit busy right now. I will get to you later.” Then when there’s a need or a longing for His presence, frustrations and anxiety set in, and He is treated as though He is the one being neglectful. “Where are you, God? I need you over here now!” It doesn’t work that way. God wants to walk with you all day long, and He wants to guide you in all you do. We must choose a mindset and attitude to be able to say, “God, show me how I can walk with you every moment of every day. Reveal to me when I am doing something that doesn’t honor you or when I have just too much other stuff in my life. Help me to walk with you and seek your face.”
If you truly want His presence, not just answers, but His presence, then seek Him. Make what you read, and watch and listen to more about Him and less of the world. There are a lot of shows that are entertaining that you really don’t need to watch; choose something that will move you closer to God. Choose your time wisely. Choose His presence and watch how your days and attitudes change. Nothing is more important than your walk with God. He loves you and He sees you and He wants to reveal more of Himself to you so you can fully understand that His best is yet to come!
