If You Don’t Take Control of It ~ It Will Be Gone Before You Know It

Psalm 115:18,  But we will bless the Lord from this time forth and forevermore.  Praise the Lord!

Time is a funny thing.  There are times when you feel as though it is flying by and then others when you think the day will never end!  I have even had days where it seemed like I was either moving in slow motion or the clock was moving along like someone set it on high speed.  One minute you look and it’s 6:30 and the next thing you know it’s 8:00 and you have to wonder where that hour and a half went!  Other times when you look at the clock it says that it’s 6:30 and you feel as though it has been hours and you look again and it is 6:45!  What on earth?  As you watch your children and grandchildren grow it seems as though time flies and yet when you are waiting on God for an answer sometimes it seems like your life is dragging.

We all have time and we all actually do have the same amount of it every day.  We may not have the same amount left, but on an individual day we are all allotted the same amount and what we choose to do with that time is on us.  Now, don’t get filled with anxiety over that statement because satan loves to put unnecessary guilt on all of us.  You must remember every single day that you cannot change what you did or didn’t do yesterday, but you can make the most of the time you have now and in the future.  Don’t beat yourself up over something you cannot change, ask God to forgive you if you have messed up and move forward.  Don’t allow satan the opportunity to hold you back.  I like to write out what I feel I need to accomplish every day and I try to get that done the night before.  The other day as I sat down to look it over while I drank a cup of coffee I realized that all it said was, “Wednesday”!  Hmmm…. Well, that left all sorts of possibilities for the day and I should have taken the time to write it all down at that moment but I was waiting on some other people that I needed to meet with so I knew I was going to be juggling a few things and I didn’t so even though I got stuff done, I didn’t get nearly as much done as I may have.

The point is, that typically we have more control over our time than we think.  If we choose to make the most of our time without trying to cram too many things in we accomplish more. Now, one wonderful thing about filling out that schedule and taking back control of your time is that you can fill in the most important things first.  Look at your week and think about what time you need to schedule for your time with God and then block off time for your family, now obviously if you have a job that is already filled in.  Take control of what you can and make sure you are scheduling time in there to take care of yourself.  If you want to be your best then you must take the time to take care of yourself.  Ask God to help you set your priorities with your time.  You don’t want to become so rigid that you lose your mind trying to accomplish it all.  Relax, those things will still be there tomorrow.  Creating a schedule is there to help you function at a reasonable level, not at a break-neck pace.  It isn’t there for you to see how much you can stuff into a day, it is for you to create balance in your life.  No one is a wonder woman or Superman so make sure you have the downtime for relaxing fun things worked into your life.  Most importantly make sure you have your time with God and time to praise Him for who He is and all He is doing in your life so you can become all He created you to be.
