Ignoring The Battle Doesn’t Make It Go Away

Ephesians 6:10-12,  Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.  Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.  Four our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

So, when you read those verses, what do they mean to you?  When you think of the “war”  this is referring to, what comes to mind?  Because we can’t see the battles I think we often don’t take them as seriously as we should.  It is easy to see the obvious battles with sin in our own lives that “putting on the armor of God” will give us victory over and that is great, but we need to recognize that it is even more than something like robbing a bank, or cheating on your spouse, or gossip, etc.  We need to learn to discern the “open doors” we have in our lives that allow those forces in our homes, yes, it is a very real battle.

The wonderful truth about that war is that we can hold on to the fact that the Bible also tells us that, “Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world” 1 John 4:4, so we don’t need to fear the battle.  We need to take it seriously though and we should be asking ourselves just how much of our lives do we allow God to fill.  If you are going to battle, you want all of the strength you can possibly get!  You would want every bit of protection there is to have!  So ask Him to show you any areas that you need to give to Him that maybe you have clung to.  Get intentional in growing in your walk with Him!  Make Him your focus and He will fight for you.

Unfortunately, the world has turned the “battle” into a fairy tale.  I know this is not a popular topic and yet it is one that cannot be ignored if we want to have victory in our lives, our children’s lives, in our governments, etc., we have to recognize evil as exactly what it is.  Christians dismiss witchcraft as though it doesn’t exist and yet it is rampant in our country ~ children are running around in Christian homes reciting witchcraft spells from Harry Potter vs. Bible verses.  This is the battle we need to wage war against.  God wants to equip you and your family!  He wants to give you everything you need to protect your home and your family.  This spiritual battle was never meant to be our “entertainment”!  The Bible has made this all very clear and we need to seek God and His wisdom about the reality of this war!

Now, one of the reasons I hesitate to write about things like this (I tried talking God out of it this morning…) is because while we need to take the reality of this battle seriously and we need to be in prayer for God’s wisdom, leading and strength for this, you cannot get so consumed with that world that it becomes your focus instead of God.  Arm yourself with the Word of God!  Make His Word your “go-to” for everything you need to know!  If it isn’t in the Bible then don’t go there.  I heard a woman speaking the other day and while she sounded very Godly in the beginning and seemed to love God, everything she said after the first few minutes was far from scriptural!  Pray for God to reveal the truth and allow Him to show you His truth!  He loves you and promises to give you the wisdom to know!  Memorize scripture and teach your children to memorize scripture ~ reward them for memorizing scripture!  Satan wants to render you and your family ineffective for God and the best way to fight that is to fill your heart and mind with the Word of God!  Seek God’s face in all that you do!  Be that warrior He called you to be and ask Him to fight for you and to guide you into all He created you to be!  He doesn’t want you to fear, He wants you to trust.  He doesn’t want you to ignore the battle, He wants you to armor up and pray!  Don’t bury your head in the sand!  Seek God with your whole heart knowing that then His best is yet to come!
