Is There a Faith Crusher Present?

by | Sep 6, 2013

Matthew 21: 21-22  And Jesus answered them, “Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea, it will happen.  And whatever you ask, in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”

Are you a faith crusher or a faith builder?  When you or someone else prays for something do you do you pull out every ounce of faith you can muster and ask God for the faith you lack or do you come up with little quips like, “well, I prayed, but I’m not holding my breath” or “well, I’m not really counting on it, seems like it would take a miracle”?

It only takes one faith crusher to ruin the faith of the whole group.  It only takes one person to constantly plant negative thoughts to dwindle the faith of the rest.  It is just like the yeast in bread that Jesus used to use as an example of the Pharisees and their poor attitudes affecting everyone around them if they were listened to for too long.  It can happen in your church, it can happen in your small group, it can happen in your home.  Stop it!  If it is you then I would encourage you to get on your knees and ask God to help you to guard your words about what He will or will not do and what He is capable of doing.  If it is someone around you it may be time to just stop them when they start and tell them “I can’t listen to that right now.”

The Bible tells us that without faith it is impossible to please God.  Well now, where does that leave us if we are faith crushers or we allow someone else to crush our faith?

Hold on tight to your faith today ladies!  Don’t allow someone to rob you of all that God has planned because they have a hideous attitude!  Hold your head high, hang onto what Jesus is saying to you in these verses!  Claim all that is in these verses, remind Jesus, ‘this is what you said and I am believing you for it.”

We still, of course need to be praying within the will of God, but you know all of that.  This isn’t about that it is about having faith and trusting God to do all He has said He will do.  It is about reminding ourselves who we are talking to and all He has done and who He is!  It is no small thing to go before God with what is on your heart.  Make sure your heart is clean and your attitude is in check and that you are within the boundaries of what God would consider to be right and then hold on to your faith and believe.  Don’t waiver and don’t allow someone else to use their words to rob you.  The best is yet to come but you must choose to believe.
