It All Starts On The Inside

Matthew 23: 27-28. Woe to you Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!  For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people’s bones and all uncleanness.  So you also outwardly appear righteous to others, but within you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

God is not looking for a show, this is not a beauty pageant where if you “look right, know all the right answers and want world peace,” you win.  There’s absolutely nothing wrong with being beautiful and knowing the right answers in life, but there’s more to it than that!  You can be absolutely gorgeous on the outside but if you are ugly on the inside then you miss out on all that God has for you.

Have you ever seen a woman who may normally be considered somewhat plain but there is just something about her that is just so beautiful?  I have seen gorgeous women who are truly beautiful both inside and out.  The difference in all of these women is whether or not they have allowed God to rule in their lives.  The Pharisees were so concerned about looking important and holy that they missed following God and being truly holy men of God, how sad.

Get real!  We all typically need some sort of ‘help’ on the outside to make us feel good about how we look and that’s ok, as Pastor Keen  used to say, “if the barn needs painting ~ paint it!”  Most mornings when I get up and look in the mirror my response is, “eeeegghhh, you are fearfully made alright!” and I try not to look again until I can ‘fix’ it!  Seriously, ladies, we need to worry more about how much time we are spending on becoming Christlike than anything else!  The more we become like Him the more we will ooze His beauty!  My Mom was a lot like that, no matter what she faced, even when she was in a nursing home, she was just so beautiful everyone just loved her ~  she was so godly and sweet, she was such a shining example to everyone who knew her!  Now, I’m not suggesting you let the outside go either, take care of yourself and carry yourself as the Princess God created you to be. Don’t allow negative self-talk!  None of us are perfect and we are always our own worst critics, so don’t start tearing yourself down. It is important to feel good about how you look and to take care of yourself, certainly don’t neglect yourself in your busy schedule either, take the time for a nice bubble bath, facial, Pedi, etc., just balance your schedule to become beautiful on the inside first and foremost.

What is your focus today?  Do you have time for Him in your busy schedule?  You wouldn’t miss doing your hair and makeup before you go to work or the grocery store, would you?   Don’t miss out on the most important time of self-improvement and that is your time alone with Him!  God made you to be gorgeous from the inside out!

I am starting a page on Chocolate and God Blog as well as on Facebook called Beauty from the Inside Out and we will do some Facebook live, devotions via Video, interviews with experts on Health and Wellness, exercise, and makeup.  We all need to grow in who we are in Christ and go deep in His Word so we can be more like Him and we need to take care of ourselves so we can serve Him to the greatest of our abilities!  I hope you will join me!
