2 Corinthians 12:9, But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
His answer for when you just don’t have what it takes “today” is for you to allow Him and His power to do all you can’t do without Him. Don’t go in your own strength or your own understanding. Too often, we want to know or understand when He is asking us to follow and trust. When you were a child and played “follow the leader,” you never knew where the other person was going to go or what they might do; you just laughed and followed. He has shown us over and over in His Word. Here are a few examples:
Us: “Well, I don’t even know what direction you want me to go or what you want me to do.”
God: “Abraham,” God told him to pack up and go to a land He would show Him. That was it ~ nothing else, just “Let’s Go! Abraham went!
Us: “Some days I feel like I am all alone in this and everyone thinks I am crazy.”
God: “Noah”. God told him to build an Ark (a small cruise ship) in the middle of nowhere and said it was going to rain, which had never happened on the earth before. Only his family (Wife and 3 sons) believed.
Us: “I don’t understand why I seem to be getting hit with one thing after the next. I need a break!”
God: “Job” ~ Job lost everything in just a matter of hours, and shortly after he lost his health as well, but in the end God blessed Job with double of all he lost because he remained faithful to God through it all.
Us: “I am so weary of it all, I don’t feel lie I have anything left in me to give or even to move forward with any hope.”
God: “Naomi” ~ She lost all hope of life ever being good again, and God led her back to Bethlehem, where He blessed her with a new beginning that was beyond what she could have imagined. She didn’t see that coming!
Us: “There’s just no strength left in me to fight one more battle, and now everyone seems to be against me on top of it all.”
God: “David” ~ When David’s own men were about to turn on him, David encouraged himself in the Lord, and he led those men to take back all that was stolen from them, plus the spoils of the enemy.
We serve a mighty God, and He is faithful and able! Nothing has escaped His notice, and He is always working out His plans. He wants you to trust Him even when you can’t see what He is doing. You don’t need anyone else to believe in what He calls you to, because He does, and He knows better than anyone what you are capable of when you rest in His power. He wants you to rely on Him and His strength; He never called anyone to do it on their own. When you let Him work through you, others will see and know that it is God. Trust and rely on Him to do what only He can do. He loves you ~ trust Him and His plan for your life!
