Joshua 2:1

Then Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two spies from Shittim. “Go, look over the land,” he said, “especially Jericho.” So they went and entered the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there.

Several years ago I remember talking to a friend and sobbing over the fact that I didn’t feel that I would ever be used by God again in ministry.  I was devastated because since I was 12 years old I believed that I was suppose to be in some form of full time Christian ministry but you see, I got a divorce and my church made it very clear that I would never be allowed to sing specials or in the choir or teach in any of the classes any more.  I had done nothing wrong, my husband had cheated on me in 10 years with multiple women and I had tried counseling, begging and praying trying to be faithful to my vows until my life and the lives of my children were in danger.  I was devastated to find out that to my church that meant I was finished serving in the church.  Thank God He doesn’t choose to do things that way.

How about you?  Do you or someone you know have the feeling that you have screwed things up too much or you aren’t qualified enough, or maybe aren’t good enough for God to still use you?  Let me tell you this;  that is a lie straight from the pit of Hell!  God will use anyone who has the heart to serve and the willingness to do it!

Look at Rahab in this verse, she was a prostitute and God chose to use her to help the spies.  She was willing to help them and help them get away safely and her life was spared.  Even that would be amazing if that was the end of the story but it isn’t, that was just the beginning.  Look at Matthew chapter 1:

A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ the son of David, the son of Abraham:
Abraham was the father of Isaac,
Isaac the father of Jacob,
Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,
Judah the father of Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar,
Perez the father of Hezron,
Hezron the father of Ram,
Ram the father of Amminadab,
Amminadab the father of Nahshon,
Nahshon the father of Salmon,
Salmon the father of Boaz,
whose mother was Rahab,
Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth,
Obed the father of Jesse,
and Jesse the father of King David
.

One day she is a prostitute and the next thing you know she is part of the lineage of Christ!  Don’t tell me God can’t use you in a mighty way!  He is just waiting for you to surrender yourself to whatever His plan is.  If God were done with you here on earth you would already be in Heaven.  Walk daily with God; allow Him to set your destination in life, the direction and the pace and you will be amazed at all He can do through you!

    Hello, Mrs. Scott-

[Hubby, Bill, is an acquaintance of mine through Spirit-FM in Lynchburg, VA. I read your posts regularly though Bill’s links on FB, and recommend your material to others.]

And now to comment: Man, how I HATE the false guilt that legalists, and current-day Pharisees lay on the people of God. I personally know others whose lives were altered. for the worse, because they heard Satan’s lies from “religious” people who should have known better. Whether through malice or ignorance of the Word, the destruction was the same.

In short, any old lie will do that, one, keeps you from coming to God (since you WILL be accepted), and two, keep you off the front-lines for God, ministering to others.

A dear old man of God, B.R. Lakin, a “country preacher” used to say that knowing the Scriptures would “un-fit” you for a lot of “preaching.”

The Truth WILL set you free.
