Ladies Bible Study Saturday, January 14th Are you THE Judge?

Luke 23:34  Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

Jesus so filled with love for people could even ask God to not pour down His judgment on the people that were crucifying Him.  Unfortunately our typical natural response is to ask God to rain down His judgment on those who hurt our feelings or may be wrong us in some small way so in  cases like that how much of Jesus love do we have flowing through us?  Why are we sometimes so quick to judge and so hesitant to love.  If someone doesn’t quite meet up to our standard why do we feel it is our position to straighten them out or look down on them?  Jesus was hanging on a cross and was still reaching out to others and showing His love and at times we seem to have difficulty just doing that on a daily basis.  How utterly sad is that?

I’ve yet to see verses in the Bible that tell us to go out into the highways and byways and judge them, tell them how they don’t measure up to how far you have come in your walk.  It is quite the opposite; God’s commands are for us to love Him with our whole heart, mind and soul and for us to love others as we love ourselves.

Too often we judge others based on our strengths.  We don’t know what they are going through and that’s why we need to show others mercy love and understanding just like we would want someone to understand and care about us.  We don’t need to judge, that is God’s job so if you are wearing it you can just slip that robe off and give it back to Him.  We aren’t here to straighten everyone else out we are here to help bring healing.  Yes, sometimes you may know they are in the wrong but we are here to show mercy and to look for ways to help bring healing to their hearts and lives.  Let God do the work in their heart.  When we see others through God’s eyes of love we will be less critical.

I would encourage each of us today to ask God to show us people that we should be reaching out to, you may already know who it is.  Ask Him for the grace, wisdom and strength to show His love and to help bring healing to their lives.
