Ephesians 5:25  Husbands love your wives even as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.

It was not always customary for men to really love their wives in Bible times.  In fact if you take a look at the Arab culture women are still treated slightly above the farm animal level.  There’s no respect given and they are abused and dispensable.  This attitude never came from God; it is a direct attack of Satan on God and the fact that God created women in His image too.

Throughout the New and Old Testaments there are examples of women who were outcasts by the world’s standard and God used them in mighty ways and in the New Testament Jesus spent time encouraging and healing women that were considered outcasts.  God never intended women to be doormats when he said for men to be the head of the home, he was expecting men to love and protect their wives in a way that brought out the great respect God intended for the women to have for their husbands.

God’s plans for both men and women are intended to work together bringing out the best in both!

I truly believe that for a man to be all he can be he needs all the support and respect he can get from his wife.  If there is no respect and honor given no matter what he accomplishes I believe he could have accomplished more with a Godly woman fighting for him behind the scenes.  If Satan can hinder the support system he can hinder the progress.  When God said for women to respect their husbands and to allow them to lead it was because he knew that is what the man needed to operate at his best.  When He said for men to love their wives to the point they would be willing to die for them it is because He knew that is what we need and desire; to be irreplaceable, to be pursued and loved and romanced, that is how we thrive!  It all works together!

God loves you and when you are not feeling all the love you need from others He is more than willing to pour into you and show you all the love He has for you if you allow Him to.  I Love God’s sense of humor and all the little ways He chooses to bless us, sometimes the problem is we forget to look at where all of those little things come from:  An unexpected kindness from a stranger, a beautiful sunset or sunrise, a hug from a small child, a song played at just the right time, a verse in the Bible that just jumps out at you, having just the right person show up or cross your path at just the right time, God waking you up in a silly way or maybe in the middle of the night sometimes to pray even if you aren’t sure what you are praying for and the list could go on and on.

I would challenge you today to ask God to help you be all you can be even when you don’t feel like it.  If you are married then I challenge you to do the right thing where your husband is concerned even if he doesn’t “deserve” it today.  Look for ways to bless the people in your life that God has put there.  Trust me it will come full circle, God will Bless you for being a blessing and obedient.
