John 8:32 Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.
What a great verse, the whole concept sounds so simple, “you will know the truth and it will set you free.” Are you free? Do you feel weighed down in some area of your life that you just feel you will never have victory or it will never get better?
The opposite of truth would be a lie, right? So what lies of Satan have you bought into? I will never get out of debt, I will never lose this weight, my marriage will never get better, I will never have victory over this addiction, any of those sound familiar? Whatever it is you are struggling with if you feel there is no hope for your situation then you have bought Satan’s lie! He is the father of lies and that is what he uses to keep you bound to keep you from reaching your full potential. As long as he can get you to buy into his lies you cannot be free because only the truth of God can set you free. God’s will for your life is for you to be happy, to be out of debt, to have a great marriage, to feel good about yourself and the way you look – he made you beautiful and he wants you to be free from any sin or addiction that is weighing you down. He is there to help, the battle isn’t just yours, give it to HIM.
God doesn’t expect you to carry everything on your shoulders. He wants to be your knight in shining armor. Look for verses and memorize them to encourage you in your situation. God wants you to be free and freedom only comes when you believe the truth about you and your situation. That doesn’t always mean everyone around you will change to “fix” your circumstances but it does mean He will carry you through to the other side and he will “make all things new”.
Please don’t give up today, choose to believe the truth that God cares and He will give you the strength needed in your situation to set you free. We have a choice: we can believe the lie that it is hopeless or we can choose to believe the truth, that “with God nothing is impossible”!
