Ephesians 5:8-10 For you were sometimes darkness, but now are you light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
How is your walk different from those who don’t know the Lord? Once we accept Christ as our Savior we need to walk in His light, putting all and I really mean all of the “darkness” of the old walk behind us. Is there anything you are holding on to that God has spoken to you about? Change isn’t always comfortable but it is always necessary for growth in any area of your life.
When my daughter Candace decided to rededicate her life to Christ she had things that God spoke to her about that needed to go in order for her to fully become all she needs to be. Some of these things may seem little or crazy in the worlds eye but to God it was hindering her. Candace loves movies and she had so many of them collected over the years that she had to write them down and alphabetize them in order to keep track of them. The problem was that several of them were downloaded by friends and given to her or some of them she decided were inappropriate for her to keep just because of the content (they were not terrible, they were just on the edge of something a Christian due to language or sexual content should question watching) I didn’t tell her she needed to part with them, God did but the key is she was in a place to hear it.
It is so easy to get to a point that we become numb to certain things in our lives so we don’t see them as an open door for Satan to keep a foothold in our lives. It takes time in the Word and prayer for God to show us what those things are. It does no good to tell someone else what they need to remove if they are not ready to hear from God because the true change comes from within. We can tell our children and other family members and friends behaviors and things we will not tolerate or occasionally if they allow us to speak into their lives and really want to know what we see that needs to change but we need to be careful that we don’t get in God’s way of working in their lives by being such a megaphone for what we see and think is right that they tune us AND God out.
Prayer; it always comes back to prayer whether it is you or someone you love commit it to prayer and allow God to work.
