Titus 2:11-15, For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope ~ the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for Himself a people that are His very own, eager to do what is good.
God’s grace is a call to live godly lives while we wait for the “blessed hope” of His return, so those who have no hope will be drawn to know Him. It has become obvious that the time is much closer than some may think for Him to return, so we must become intentional to live life with more of an eternity mindset vs living for the moment!
If you were to base every decision in light of eternity, how would that change some of what you say and do? Would you treat other people differently? Would how you walk, talk, and dress change? What about what you watch on TV, listen to, or read? Would you spend more time with Jesus in prayer, praise, and reading your Bible so you can know Him better?
God loves us so much that He has made how we should live as plain as day. We all have areas we can work on; no one is perfect, not even close. That is why He died on the cross for our sins. His sacrifice and love for us should overwhelm our hearts and minds to the degree we are compelled to become more like Him. Our hearts should break when we live in ways we know breaks His heart. He loves us so much, He has laid out the plan for how we should live so we can fully experience Him and His blessings in our lives.
Are you ready to determine daily to allow Him to guide you in all you do, taking one day at a time, releasing your will and allowing Him to replace it with His? That is a huge step for all of us because we each have areas that are more difficult to release than others; that’s where trust comes in. If that stirs up uncomfortable feelings inside, please understand that surrendering to Him and His will does not mean that something bad will happen; it actually opens you up to His best because when you release it or them to Him, then He is free to do what He knows is best. He is trustworthy and faithful, even when we aren’t!
How about it? Let’s determine to live lives that will impact eternity by shining His light to all those around us so they will be drawn to Him because we know that truly His best is yet to come!
