No Matter Where You Are Today………

2 Samuel 7:9   “And I have been with you wherever you went and have cut off all your enemies from before you.”

The Lord was talking to David in this verse and I have read these verses so many times in my life, but this just jumped out at me this morning when I read it.  David was now King of Israel and God had given him rest from all of his enemies, He literally cut them off.  David had been through the “fire” being chased by King Saul, never knowing from one day to the next who he could trust.  You would think that there had to be times when David felt all alone……….. but he wasn’t!

Have you been there or are you there now?  Have you ever felt as though all your friends and people you thought you could count on or trust have somehow “disappeared”?  I know I have been through some dark seasons of life and it seemed as though all of my Christian friends disappeared.  It wasn’t that there was a problem between us, they just didn’t have “time” to hang out or time to chat, but any old friend I had from the past who wasn’t living a godly life came out of the woodwork all of a sudden.  I have had other times when it seemed as though the silence of God was deafening!  But, you know what?  He was there!  It didn’t always feel as though He was, but He was!  My circumstances didn’t always look like He was there, but He was!  You can’t trust your feelings or circumstances to tell you of the Lord’s presence!  He’s there, whether you feel it or not so talk to Him!  Don’t allow satan to have a victory in your life because your feelings are making you feel alone in life.  You are never alone!  God is walking by your side and He wants you to grab hold of His hand and allow Him to walk you through this!  Don’t buy satan’s lies.  He wants to make you feel as though everything is hopeless and no one cares, but that is simply not true!

Now, maybe you aren’t the one going through the fire or feeling alone but do you have someone you know who is?  Do you have time for them?  Could you at least take the time every day to text them and let them know you are praying for them?  (Don’t just say it though, take the time to also actually pray!). Could you maybe take them out for coffee and just listen.  Odds are unless they ask you they don’t need a spiritual dissertation on what they should be doing or how they aren’t quite measuring up in one area or another, because let’s face it we all have areas we can improve in.  Unless you are asked for advice, just listen, spend time with them and pray with them and for them!  Some of the most well-meaning advice given during times like this can be also the most hurtful.  You don’t have to “fix” them or their situation, just be there.  If we as Christians aren’t there for others who are hurting, trust me satan will send someone.  Just exactly how do you think that is going to work for them?  I have been there and trust me, it doesn’t usually turn out “pretty”.  We are called to love people and to show the love of God to them.  We are not the judge and jury!  We are here to live lives that will draw others to God!

No matter where you are in life today; going through the fire or on the mountaintop, God has a great plan for you!  As it says in Jeremiah 29:11-13, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.  Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.  You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.”  I would like to encourage you to seek Him with all your heart!  Don’t give up!  God loves you and He wants you to show His love to others!  He wants to see you walk strong and in the confidence of who He created you to be, knowing that His best is yet to come for you!
