Pray For That Miracle So The World Around You Will Know That He Is God

Joshua 4:24,  He did this so that all the people of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and so that you might always fear the Lord your God.

God had just held the waters back on the Jordan River so the Israelites could pass over on the dry ground.  He didn’t just do it to show Himself mighty to the Israelites, He did it to show Himself mighty to the World, both then and now.  Too often I think these stories are read as if it is some sort of fairy tale instead of being read as history.  Stop and think for a minute what that must have been like to see the water, which had been overflowing the banks of the river because it was the time of year when the river was flooding, stop and pile up so you can cross.  Wow!  We are amazed and yet why are we?  He created everything so why should that seem like a great thing?  Nothing is too difficult for Him and that is what He has tried to show us over and over, generation after generation, and yet He is still trying to get our attention.

When you pray, go to Him, not just with the intent to get that mountain moved in your life, but for the world around you to see and know that He is God! In so many ways we are like children when it comes to God.  What seems overwhelming to us is a simple matter to Him.  It’s like when a small child comes up to you to ask you to tie their shoes because the task is daunting to them and yet you can just smile and bend over and tie it.  No big deal and yet they are so relieved that you could take care of it for them.  Go to God!  Take it all to Him.  Nothing is too difficult for Him to handle, but He wants your attention and trust.  He wants you to give it to Him and say, “Here, do what you see fit to do with this and please give me the grace and strength I need for this.”  Don’t lose hope when you say that to Him!  Don’t let satan make you think that when you give something to God and you take your hands off and trust Him to do what is best that it means that something terrible is about to happen.  Sometimes God is just waiting for us to give it all to Him so He can move in the situation.  Obedience was required of the Israelites in order for them to see the miracles of God.  There was nothing they could do to move that water other than follow God’s direction.  If they had decided that they didn’t trust God to hold the water back and had built boats to get across instead, how crazy would that have been?  God knows the fastest route to what needs to be done, but we must obey His word, follow Him without reserve and trust that what He is about to do is right and for good.

Jeremiah 29:11-13 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”  Continue to seek Him, follow Him, and trust Him, knowing that He has a plan and no matter what it may look like right now, He is working and you can trust Him.  He is God!  Nothing you ever face could be outside of His ability to step in and show Himself mighty so not only will you see it but others will be drawn to Him because of it.  Ask Him to give you a heart that desires to see Him glorified in all that you do and all that you face.  Life on earth is not easy, but with His help, you can be your best for Him and you can get through to the other side bringing Him glory as you do.  Trust Him that truly His best is yet to come!
