Luke 2:28-35. He took Him up in his arms and blessed God and said: “Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, according to Your word; For my eyes have seen Your salvation which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.” And Joseph and His mother marveled at those things which were spoken of Him. Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, “Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against (yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.
Simeon was so excited to see Jesus that day and He knew exactly Who He was and why He came! He came to earth to be our Savior! John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” He loves us that much!
Let me encourage you to focus on that! This holiday season, whether you are celebrating Christmas or Hanukkah or maybe you don’t celebrate any of it, let’s all focus on Him! This is not a time to argue or get hateful about differences it is a time to share the love of God! There are more than enough things to argue about on social media pages, but why? I have come to the conclusion that you aren’t going to change their opinion, they are as set in their mind as you are, so what is the point of arguing? Share His love! Share your love for Him and let His love speak to the hearts of those around you! Pray for the people that you know are lost and without Christ, because that is what matters! Pray that God will give you opportunities to show His love to others and that He will fill you with His love and compassion for other people! Live a life that is different!
The world is a crazy place right now and we need to be focused and praying for opportunities to be a light in all of the darkness. We as Christians need to set our minds on showing His love and being the godly examples He has called us to be. There’s enough hatefulness out there, choose to show His love. Don’t worry about whether or not they agree with you on everything. Live a life that is full of God and His holiness and love! BE the example! Pray that He will guide you into honoring Him in all that you do!
