1 John 4:7-8
Beloved, let us love one another for love is from God and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

So, the question of the day ladies is this: if the only thing others had to base whether or not you have a close walk with God was the love and kindness you show to others what conclusion would they come to?

Loving others isn’t something we are to do when we are in the “mood”, loving others is a command: 1 John 4:21 “And this commandment we have from him; whoever loves God must also love his brother.” God has never said, “pick and choose those people that deserve your love today, you know the ones who know your deep dark secrets and will take them to the grave, those who have enough money and right clothes, etc.” God expects us to show His love to everyone so they will be drawn to Him. It is amazing how many things God says “do” in the Bible and we seem to pick and choose which ones will fit our day.

God loves us and His desire is for that love to flow through us to the world around us. If you just ask Him to speak to your heart about areas you are not doing this in trust me He will show you! We are to be obedient to God in all that He asks and this is truly the most simple command He gives us ~ love others like He loves us. How are you at a restaurant? Do you treat your server like he/she is somehow beneath you? Do they have to jump through your hoops in order to get a decent tip, let alone a 20% tip like you should be giving? Trust me I have heard those excuses of, “well if I only give God 10% why would I tip a server 20?” Hmmmmm, so you “tip” God 10%? I’m sorry that 10% is His, you didn’t “give” Him anything He needed other than your obedience, but He has commanded you to love those around you and a server’s wage is based on her tips because her hourly wage is only $2 and some change most of the time ~ be known for your love. Don’t leave a 5% tip and then a track telling about the love of God…….. How about that single Mom in the church, how could you show the love of Christ to her? What about the little children that come to your church on a bus or someone picks them up and they are a bit grundgy ~ do you think maybe they could use a hug today? What about the homeless people in your area?

Ask God to show you when and where to show His love to others. Don’t hold His love back from those around you, be known for it! I would encourage you to begin at home, show the love of Christ to those you live with. How much better response do you think you will get from your family if you take them off your “potters wheel”, give them to God and love them where they are? Not easy but trust me you will feel better not carrying the weight of perfecting those around you and just loving them instead so God can work in their lives.

I will close with this verse; 1 John 4:12b “if we love sone another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.” Ask Him to give you His love for others!
