Stand Firm in Your Faith

Isaiah 7:9b,  “If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.”

So, God sent Isaiah to King Ahaz because there were a couple of kings who had teamed up against Judah, and Ahaz and the people of Judah were terrified of what was going to happen.  Isaiah told him, “Be careful, keep calm, and don’t be afraid.  Do not lose heart because of these two smoldering stubs of firewood ~ because of the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram and of the son of Remaliah.  Aram Ephraim and Remaliah’s son have plotted your ruin, saying, “Let us invade Judah; let us tear it apart and divide it among ourselves, and make the son of Tabeel king over it.  Yet this is what the Sovereign Lord says:  “It will not take place, it will not happen.”  Those were God’s words spoken through Isaiah, not just Isaiah’s words.

What has God been telling you?  Are you standing firm in that?  It is easy to succumb to fear and satan’s lies if you aren’t careful to guard your heart and mind.  You must consciously stop those negative thoughts at the door of your mind.  Don’t even give them a second thought, reject them and replace them with the promises of God!  In a lot of ways, if you take a look around and within, we have become a bit “soft”.  We don’t like anything that is uncomfortable and we want everything right now, we are lacking in perseverance.  We tend to think that if God doesn’t do it right now then He must not be doing anything or He doesn’t care.  That’s simply not true.  Sometimes God allows things in order to help us grow and sometimes it is there to help someone else grow or for others to see the mighty hand of God in your life, but if you aren’t willing to wait for His mighty hand to show up then how will it ever happen?  We don’t see mighty things often because we either don’t believe for them or we just aren’t willing to wait for them.  Don’t lose hope and certainly don’t let go of your faith!  The Bible says in Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”  Are you trusting Him today?  Are you taking Him at His Word?  Are you diligently seeking Him?

If you are wavering today in your faith, I would encourage you to go to God and tell Him that you need Him to fill you with His confidence and the faith to believe that He is working on your behalf. Turn on some praise and worship music. Reject any lies satan is trying to tell you and ask God to reveal His truth about your situation to you.  Ask Him for a verse or a song or a message.  He will show you if you seek Him and His face.  Don’t give up!  Determine to become someone who perseveres!  Determine to be an Overcomer, someone who is thriving on the Words of God, not just a survivor.  You are called to shine His hope to the world and you can’t do that in the depths of despair.  Your hope is found in Him!  That same power that rose Jesus from the grave will get you through another day, it will lift you up and strengthen you if you ask Him to.  He will guide you into all He has planned for you if you will just trust Him and seek Him with your whole heart.  The world seems to be going to hell in a handbasket and they need to see that there is hope in God.  He loves you and He loves them.  There’s plenty to look around and shake in our boots just like Ahaz and the people of Judah, but God has called us to “Be careful, keep calm, and don’t be afraid.  Stand firm in your faith or you won’t be able to stand at all.”  Trust Him that as you commit your ways to Him and follow Him that truly His best is yet to come!
