Isaiah 26:3
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.
The only way to have peace of mind through all that you may have to face in this life is to keep your heart and mind fixed on God. Satan will do all he can to try to get you to focus on the problem or the heartaches, but if you fix your eyes on Him that is where you will find peace, knowing that He is walking with you through it all.
We know when we are working with or raising small children that there are times that you help them or do something for them because they shouldn’t or can’t do it themselves and then there are other times that we cheer them on and encourage them as we teach them how to do it themselves! It is what helps them grow and it helps them gain the confidence that they can do more than they thought they could. If we never taught them to feed themselves or dress, etc., where would they be? There are times in our lives when God works the same way, sometimes He steps in and does something for us and other times, He walks through it with us as He cheers us on, knowing that we are capable and will be better for it on the other side. Trust Him to know which scenario is best for what you are doing and pray for His wisdom to know and understand.
God loves you and He wants to see you grow, but He also knows when it is time to step in. One of my biggest struggles at times can be having an attitude of “I’ll do it myself”! I am not sure if that has to do with being the youngest or what, but I have always struggled with it. There are times though when I just want to sit down and say, “ok, enough, you do it and come back and get me when it’s done!” It sort of reminds me of going on a walk with my daughters when they were teenagers. We lived out in the country and they wanted to go for a long walk, so I told them we could walk around the block if they wanted to, but to wear comfortable shoes because it would be long! (It was 7 miles around the block!) Danielle wore her shoe of choice which was flip-flops and when we got half way around the block she sat down and said, “you go and just come back and pick me up after you get home.” Two seconds later, a cow mooed in the pasture behind her (for some reason she is terrified of cows) and she came running to walk with us! It wasn’t going to be as comfortable as she thought to wait for us to finish without her.
Don’t go it alone and don’t send Him on without you if He is trying to walk through this with you! You must ask for His direction and then take comfort in His guiding you, knowing that He has your best interest in mind. The walk may seem long and tiring but He wants to see you through! Trust Him in all that He is asking you to do and know that He will provide the strength and wisdom you need as you follow Him! The best is yet to come!
