STOP and PRAY!

by | Feb 16, 2023

1 Samuel 1:26,  And she said, “O my lord!  As your soul lives, my lord, I am the woman who stood by you here, praying to the Lord.”

Hannah had prayed for a son and the Lord heard her prayer and gave her a son.  What have you been pouring your heart out to God about?  Is there a personal request you have that is weighing heavy on your heart?  There are so many things going on around the world we need to constantly be praying for those things too.  There’s no end to what all we should and could be praying about and we are called to pray and to have a mindset of prayer all of the time.  We should always have open communication with God, thanking Him, asking for forgiveness, and making petitions not only for ourselves but for others.

I know we have had multiple studies on prayer, but clearly, with everything that is going on in the world, we can’t pray too much. God loves you and He cares about what is on your heart.  Nothing is too big or too small to take to Him.  His desire is for you to bring everything to Him.  He wants you to learn to trust Him.  You don’t have to figure out the answers, you need to take them to Him and let Him show you. I have seen God answer prayers of mine that were for things that were overwhelming and others that were just something I wanted but didn’t necessarily “need”. He loves you! If you have done what He has put in front of you to do but the need is still there then keep praying and believing for Him to show up and do what He has promised. If you are lacking in faith, your mind just keeps telling you that it isn’t going to happen ask Him to help your unbelief and every time that thought starts to cross your mind stop it and just say, “No! I choose to trust Him to do what is right and best for me so whether it turns out the way I think it needs to or not, I am believing He will work it all for my good.”

How many people do you know that don’t know God?  Are you praying for them?  Are you praying for your pastor?  Do you have a list?  Start a list today!

Are you seeking God with your whole heart in every area of your life?  God doesn’t just want to “take your order”, He wants a relationship with you.  Prayer is about relationship.  How would you approach someone you know loves you to ask for something you need, and would that be the only time you ever talk with them?  Of course, you would be in constant conversation with someone here on earth that you love and that loves you, and you wouldn’t even hesitate, if you knew they were able to meet that need, to ask for their help.  That is how it should be in your walk with God.  His desire is to be close.  Yes, He knows what you need before you even ask, but He wants you to seek Him and to talk, and walk with Him.  Don’t let anything hold you back! Live a life that honors Him! Too many people think that they can fake their walk with God or live any way they choose and expect Him to show up when they need something and that is not how it works! As a parent you wouldn’t reward a child who just keeps on disobeying, you would discipline them so you can teach them what is good and right. Now, don’t get me wrong here ~ there’s a difference between living a life of sin where you just don’t care what is right or wrong and making mistakes that have you in a mess. God has bailed me out of situations because I made a mistake, but if I was being rebellious there were times He taught me by allowing me to pay the consequences of that mistake. God is so good ~ He does what is right for our life, He is faithful even when we aren’t so know that if you are following Him and trusting Him He will do what is best to bring you into all He created you to be!

What’s on your heart today?  Take it to Him.  Spend time with Him.  Ask Him to show you how you can walk closer with Him in your everyday life.  That journey never ends, we can always draw closer to Him.  There’s always more to know, learn, experience, and trust when it comes to Him and who He is.  Don’t miss out on your time in prayer.  Schedule prayer into your day ~ it is that important!
