Success is Found by Allowing God to Order Your Steps

Psalm 37: 23-24  The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way; though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand.

So often this verse is quoted as “The steps of a man are established by the Lord.” and we miss the part about “when he delights in His way.”  God wants to order our steps in life to give us the best, most productive and satisfying, God honoring life possible but it is only when we delight ourselves in Him that we are truly open to His leading!

As women there are times we are much more easily led by our emotions and hormones than we are by the Word of God, sad to say.  We all need to stop for a moment (male or female) when we are in an emotionally charged situation and ask ourselves if what we are about to say or do is really because we are being led by God or is it our flesh coming out?  Don’t allow your emotions to rule in your decisions in life.  If you are married there are times as a wife you will have to stop and ask yourself if your reaction to a situation with your husband could be a bit overkill due to the way you “feel” at the moment.  Marriages around the world are suffering because there are too many men and women who are saying and doing what the feel instead of running it by God.  As Christians we have no business behaving that way.

Take a few minutes and really ponder whether you are directing your steps or are you allowing God to guide you.  Are you feeling frustrated and down?  Maybe it is because you have been trying to do “it” your way for so long and “it” hasn’t worked and you need to stop doing and start pouring yourself into the Word of God and Listen.  Seek Him, ask Him to give you a longing to be in His word and to learn as much about Him as humanly possible, as it says in this verse, it doesn’t mean you won’t fall but it does mean you won’t have your face rubbed in it all because He is holding your hand!

Trust me, I have faced a lot of situations and I still do that I don’t feel like behaving the way I should because someone else has pushed every button I have or they have been so hateful I don’t really feel they deserve it but Ladies, it has never paid off when I have acted out of the flesh instead of allowing God to guide my mouth and behavior.  There are times it almost seems painful to treat someone else right and wait on God for His deliverance but you can know that it will come and you want to be walking beside Him with your head up when it does.  There’s no glory in going your own way!

I am seriously praying today that God will give each of us the strength to be the godly strong women He has called us to be so we can make a tremendous difference in this world for Him!
