Take Every Thought Captive

2 Corinthians 10:5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ

What you think, and what you dwell on will make a difference in your life and all that you do.  If you dwell on something long enough it tends to become your reality, at least in your mind. For example; if you are going through a storm in life and your focus is on your situation then there is little hope, but if your focus is on God you will be filled with hope.

Our minds are at work constantly so it is imperative that we take every thought captive.  We can too easily make a mountain out of a molehill!  Seriously, any thought that you don’t take control of will become a controlling thought in your mind.  That can be a very dangerous place to be.  Uncontrolled thoughts can destroy relationships, they can hold you back from taking God at His word, and they can hold you back from taking that leap of faith you need to take in order to do what God has called you to do.  Don’t miss out on all that God has planned for you by allowing your thoughts to run you instead of taking them captive. When you are trying to do something new or God is stretching you, you need to be careful because there are always going to be other people who will try to discourage you and satan will try to plant those lies in your mind that will say that you aren’t able or in some way shape or form that you aren’t “enough” and you are! If God has brought you to it then He has already placed inside you what you need to accomplish it. You may need to grow in some areas, but one area you have the ability to control is your thoughts. That is part of the reason I love what Henry Ford said, “whether you think you can or think you can’t ~ you are right.”

Run those things by the Word of God!  Do they line up with what He has to say?  Does His word say, “oh, yup! You’re right, you can’t do what I am asking you to do!”  or does it say, “you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you!”?  Get into His Word and allow Him to show you all that He has for you and who He says you are! Remind yourself that only God can define you because He is the one who created you! He is the one who knows all of your potential that He has put inside of you!  Focus on His Word as it says in Joshua 1:8, “This book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it.  For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”  So, take those thoughts captive and fill your mind with the Word of God.  Allow Him to work in and through you so you can be all He created you to be!  His best is yet to come!
