The Choice is Yours

Romans 8:12-14
So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.  For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.  For all who are led by the Spirit of God are Sons of God.

It is a daily choice we make to not be a slave to the sins we struggle with.  Whether it is an addiction you struggle with or a lack of self control, cursing, gossip, telling lies, turning your back on God and doing your own thing, it is your choice to be a slave to it or to be led by the Spirit of God.  We all have areas we struggle in and in order to grow into the women of God we are created to be we must make the choice daily who we are going to live for, ourselves or God.

If you think about it God really doesn’t ask for much from us other than to love Him and others and to allow Him to guide us in our daily walk.  If we do these things He wants to be able to guide us into His blessing and a life that reflects who He is so others will be drawn to Him as well.  Over and over in the old Testament we read how God told the people of Israel to follow Him and love Him and to stay away from the beliefs of other people and it would be well with them and He would bless them and if they didn’t he would discipline them.  It was all pretty cut and dry and they still rebelled and went their own way.  Now, once again, God is NOT asking for much, spend time in His word and learn about who He is and love Him and serve Him and He will be our Lord and Savior and will show us His love and mercy and blessing and yet we still often allow Satan to have daily victories in our lives and we struggle in areas that we have not submitted to God.  There is no reason to live defeated lives when we are the sons and daughters of the Almighty God who is willing to give victory to any who ask and follow Him.

I would encourage you to start today to ask God to show you any areas in your life that you have not really given to Him so He can give you victory.  Pray for a clean heart and a right spirit because that is where everything else originates, you either have a clean heart and a right spirit or you have defeat because you are living in the flesh instead of led by the Spirit of God, it is your choice.  Victory is yours to have today, God is just waiting for you to choose Him!
