The God of My Strength…

2 Samuel 22:3,  “The God of my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, My stronghold and my refuge; My Savior,”

If you are ever looking for an example of someone who wholeheartedly trusted God, David is your man!  He didn’t wait for tragedy to strike, although he sure seemed to have a lot of it in his lifetime, He walked with God daily and meditated on God’s Word.  He killed a lion and a bear while he was out shepherding his father’s sheep!  Have you ever seen a lion or a bear close up?  I have and I can’t exactly say that is something I would take on!  David took God at his word.  Now, that isn’t to say that David never had those moments when his circumstances overwhelmed him, take a look at Psalm 42:5, ”Why are you cast down, O my soul?  And why are you disquieted within me?  Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance.”  When he was discouraged he turned to God and he chose to trust Him.

Trust is a choice and it is the answer to what you are facing.  Have you noticed how much anxiety there is in the world and that feeling of hopelessness?  We have all had those times when our circumstances overwhelm and those thoughts can consume us if we aren’t careful.  Satan would like nothing better than to paralyze you with fear and anxiety so he can make your situation bigger to you than God in your mind, and he wins.  Guard your mind.  You are a child of the Most High God!  If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior then His spirit lives within you ~ what problem can possibly match that?  Ask Him to give you the strength and confidence you need to face the day and then walk in it!  It is not the will of God for you to feel less than or like you somehow don’t measure up.  Ask Him to fill you as only He can do!

The same God that David walked with is the same God that gives you salvation and gives you His Spirit to overcome.  It is a choice, you can see it when you read the Psalms or the history of David’s life in the Old Testament, how he chose to trust God.  Think about the story of David and Goliath and the fact that he was a young teenager and then think about the fact that before he went out to fight he told the King that God would deliver him just as he did when he had killed the lion and the bear!  Who knows how young David was when he killed the lion and the bear?  If a child can put that much trust in God then certainly you can.  It is a choice every single day because trust me, as long as you live on this earth and you seek God, satan will try to discourage you and keep you from it.

God sees and He knows more than you do about what is going on.  Trust Him!  He knows what is best and you can trust His best.  Choose to trust Him so you can be filled with faith and hope for the days to come.  Nothing is hopeless unless you choose to leave God out of it!  That’s why our world is such a mess ~ you can’t take God out of everything and ever think that there will be a good outcome!  The more of God you have in your life and your situation the more you will see Him show up mighty.  Cling to Him instead of your circumstances!
