Philippians 4:5b-7, “The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
So often we quote verse six without the answer for how we can do all of that, which is found in “The Lord is at hand.” When faced with the seemingly impossible situations of life, as a Christian, our comfort is found in the fact that the Lord is with us, every second of every day, because He has given us His Spirit to live within us. As it says in John 14:26-27, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”
Take all that is on your heart to God with the confidence we have in His faithfulness to do what only He can do in a way that not only will be best, but it will bring glory to His name and draw others to Him. Pray ~ let go, He knows what needs to be done, and trust Him. We like to have control of the outcomes because we may not like to admit it, but we feel we have a pretty good idea of what is “best” sometimes, so our prayers become riddled with our instructions of how He should handle it all. Oh, believe me, I have been there with my list of instructions and expectations, only to find that, low and behold He had a better plan. He loves you more than anyone on earth has ever loved you, and your tears have not escaped His notice. Give it all to Him and allow His peace to cover you so He can shine through all you are facing to those around you. No, it’s not easy, but if you allow Him to help instead of trying to do it on your own, He will give you all you need to do it.
Keep Psalm 46:1 at the front of your mind as you go throughout the day: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” And, Isaiah 26:3, “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”
Whatever you are facing today, or whatever may come your way ~ God can handle it! Nothing is difficult for Him, and He is trustworthy. Place it all in His hands and just “Be still” as you rest in His grace and peace, knowing that His best is yet to come.
