The Power of Your Thoughts and Words

Psalm 19:14,  “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.”

We all know that our words are so important.  Every day you have the opportunity to speak life to those around you.  The power of words is revealed when God spoke everything into existence!

Your words reveal what is in your heart, so in order to change your words, you must change what you are pouring into your heart on a daily basis.  No matter how old the saying is, “garbage in garbage out”, pretty much sums it up.  Make the best choices if you want to get the best out.  It’s much more simple than what we make it.  Choose carefully what you watch, what you read, and what and who you are listening to.

Your self-talk and the way you speak to your family and friends will make a huge difference in all of your lives.  Negative words will only frustrate you and those around you.  Choose your words carefully and allow God to guide you in what you say.  Don’t add power to satan’s lies in your life by repeating them.  God wants to empower you so you can become all He created you to be so you need to line your words up with what His Word says.  Write His promises down so you can carry them with you to remind yourself of what He says about it all!  You will find that the more you pray the word of God and speak it over your life and the lives of those you are praying for, the better your attitude and outcome will be.

What are you meditating on?  Be careful!  Don’t meditate on what may happen, what has happened, or your fears.  Remember what you feed is what will grow in your life!  Your thoughts are powerful as well.  Stop those negative thoughts and pray and read your Bible and Bible studies and fill your thoughts with the Words of God.  Why do you think God told the Israelites in Joshua 1:8, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it.  For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”   Guard your heart and mind!  Seek God with your whole heart!  Allow Him to show you what needs to go or be added in your life so you can become all He created you to be!
