The Power That “Works In You”…

by | Jul 9, 2021

Ephesians 3:20-21,  “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever.  Amen.

Everyone likes the “exceedingly abundantly and above all we ask or think”, but how about the “power that works in us, part?  Let me explain:  We know that God is able to do absolutely anything!  Nothing is remotely difficult for Him!  The question is:  Are you willing to allow Him to do that in you?  Are you willing to let go of your agenda and allow Him to do what He sees needs to be done?  That’s not always comfortable, is it?  We like to have our agendas for how we think our lives should work and we like to have a bit of control over that too because somehow we think that makes us more comfortable and yet in reality the best place to be is in that place where you allow God to work in you to perform in you what He created you for.

He knows what’s best.  Growing spiritually can be painful at times because you have to learn to let go of yourself and what you think is important allowing God to do what He knows is best.  You can’t see it so it’s uncomfortable.  You don’t know what the outcome will be so you aren’t really sure you want it.

The only way to have God’s best is to trust Him to do what He tells you is best and the only way to learn to trust Him is to let go of that death grip you have on those people or things or sin in your life.  You can’t have God’s best and cling to something else, you must cling to Him and trust Him.  Do you find yourself giving Him something and then taking it back because He either isn’t working fast enough for you or you aren’t sure He is going to handle it the way you want Him to?  Give it back and leave it there.  He loves you and He knows what is best.  Ask Him to help you trust Him.  Ask Him for the faith you need for today.

God wants to do “exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask or think” in you, but you have to be open to that.  Open up your heart and mind to all that He has created you to be and all that He wants to do in your life and ask Him to give you the strength you need to leave it all in His hands.  Ask Him to create a clean heart and a right spirit in you and to show you anything that you need to make right or change and then allow Him to work in your heart and mind.  Spend time alone with Him each and every day, asking Him to convict you of things you need to be convicted of so your walk with Him is fresh every day.  Strive to be like Him so you can be all He created you to be!
