Proverbs 1:7, The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Did you know that you are a minority within the body of Christ? That may sound strange, but it is shocking how many people profess to be Christ followers and yet they never open their Bible to read it on their own, they are not interested in attending a Bible Study, or even willing to do one on their own, and they are missing out on so much!. The “fear” or Awe of the Lord seems to be lacking in our society, and it is showing. It all begins as a slow slide from our walk with Him. Satan is sly, and he doesn’t just throw something in your face; he is subtle and will get you to just let something seemingly small in or to fade away, and then another and another until all of a sudden you wake up one day and realize how far you are from Him and how your relationship with Him used to be. It takes being intentional and guarding your walk with God. TV shows don’t even wait to reveal their “hidden agenda” anymore; they just throw it right out there from the start, which sadly reflects how low the standard is now in that industry. We are called to so much more than that. We serve a Holy God, and we need to ask Him daily to show us anything that needs to be removed from our lives that doesn’t honor Him and who He is, or what we may need to add in our lives so we can become more like Him! We need to focus on becoming more in awe of our God!
If you look at any other religion, including mythology, their respect and awe of their gods is overwhelming, and satan has lured Christians into complacency instead. Because God is loving, kind, and merciful, so many people seem to have lost focus on the fact that He is also Holy, Just, and a Father who still doesn’t have a problem disciplining His children when necessary because of His love for us.
Let’s resolve to encourage other believers to dig in and pursue knowing God more! Start sharing tidbits of what you read or learn through sermons, podcasts, or a good book that taught you something about God. Pray about starting a Bible study in your home or at your church if there isn’t one, and invite others to attend with you. Pray for God to show you opportunities to help those around you to develop a hunger to know more about Him.
God wants to show you His best for your life, but it rarely just falls in your lap! He wants to lead and guide you into all He created you to be! It starts here: Joshua 1:8, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” I know you want God’s best for your life! I know you have a desire to seek Him, and I would like to encourage you today to never settle for where you are! Dig in! Pursue Him! Be in Awe of Him and ask Him to show you what you can do to draw closer to Him. He loves you more than words can say, so pursue becoming all He created you to be today! His best is yet to come when you are on His path!
