The Toughest Time To Do Right Is When Someone Does You Wrong

Job 42:10
And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job, when he had prayed for his friends. And the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.

Have you ever been in the place where other people misjudged you and or mistreated you? Maybe you did something that was wrong or maybe you didn’t but either way they behaved in a way that made you feel as though they thought in God’s eyes you were beneath them? I think we have all been misunderstood at times but I know I have seen times in churches and other organizations where some of the leaders behaved like Job’s friends. It is easy to get our backs up and want revenge or have the attitude of wanting to see them go through what they put you through but stop for a moment and think about it: What should your response really be?

God told Job’s friends that they were wrong in the things they said to Job and that if they wanted forgiveness they needed to sacrifice and ask Job to pray for them. Hmmmm, what if Job had developed an attitude after having gone through all he went through and he wouldn’t pray for them? What if he wanted revenge for their hatefulness just like Jonah did against the land of Nineveh? Job’s blessing came after he prayed for his friends and God heaped a double blessing on him for his humbleness and obedience.

Some of the toughest times to do right is when you have been wronged by the other person. It is always right to do what is right. Don’t allow your feelings about the situation make your decision on whether or not to do what is godly and right. The Bible is clear that if we know to do right and we don’t do it, it is sin. (James 4:17) There are always going to be times that we don’t feel like doing something but yet we know it is the right thing to do. We cannot expect God to bless us in our situations if we are being stubborn and rebellious because we don’t “feel” like having the right attitude. You have the right to choose your attitude today so choose a good one and move forward. Bad attitudes only serve to keep us right where we are in life and often they can even take you backward and you will lose ground in your situation – why would you want to do that? Take heart and choose to do right, choose to have the right attitude and then know that the best is yet to come!
