To Tell A Friend, To Tell A Friend…… To Tell A Friend….

Psalm 19:14
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.

When we have company coming over I try to make sure that things are in order and my house is spotless. No one typically wants to have someone just walk in to see everything in disarray or dirty. Having 3 adult children, an 18 year old and several grandchildren, there have been times when someone has been brought to the house when I wasn’t quite prepared because I had no idea they were coming. I actually, probably am a bit over concerned in this area, I am not sure why but it drives me crazy to have someone walk in and see a mess any where! Have you ever been deep cleaning and been at that “worse before better” stage and have someone you barely know show up? Ohhhhhhhh, I cringe just thinking about it!

On that note…….. as much as we wouldn’t want someone else to bring someone into our mess while we are deep cleaning our house, we have no business bringing someone else into someone else’s private messes! Gossip hurts, it kills and destroys on so many levels. Gossip can almost be a form of bullying, telling things that may or may not be true with the intent of spreading what you know. If you don’t want to get involved and help that person with their “mess” then you need to not bring anyone else into it! Ouch, we have all been guilty of that at some point, but it really needs to stop! We need to be more concerned about helping and loving others than we are in spreading things about them, true or not! (And adding “bless her heart” doesn’t make it right either) We are called to help each other be all we can be for God. The Bible is very clear that we will answer for this one day! Matthew 12:36, “But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.”

Ladies, let us choose today to chose our words wisely! We can almost count on the fact that this will be an area Satan will want to target today, just because…… he’s an idiot! But we have the ability to overcome because “Greater is He who is in you, than he that is in the World!” Claim it and have the victory you know you can!

One of the verses I read this morning in my devotions was Psalm 139:4 “Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.” And I instantly prayed “then stop those words Lord that shouldn’t come out of my mouth! Put your hand over my mouth or something! I would rather all of a sudden sound like Charlie Brown’s teacher than to have hurtful words come out of my mouth!” I am afraid it is a battle we will all deal with until we are in Heaven, but we need to make sure we are still fighting the battle until that day comes! Honor God in all that you do and say and make a habit of empowering those around you with your words!
