Luke 12: 47-49 And that servant who knew his master”s will but did not get ready or act according to his will, will receive a severe beating. But the oner who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.
These verses go along with James 4:17 “Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.” When you are called on by God to do something and you don’t do it, it is sin, simply put. So when God speaks to your heart about reaching out to someone showing the love of Christ to them and you don’t do it, it is sin. When God asks you to help out at church but the task seems to menial and not worth your time, it is sin.
When God asks you to forgive someone that has deeply wronged you and you don’t …… it is sin. Maybe you feel as though there is no way that person deserves your forgiveness and you could be right, but did you deserve God’s forgiveness, did Jesus deserve to die for all that you have done wrong? To whom much forgiveness is given, much is required ~ God forgave you so let it go and forgive them! Don’t hold grudges! Unforgiveness is poison to your life and forgiveness will free you and allow you to move forward! You don’t have to be friends with the person or trust them but you do need to forgive just like Christ forgave you!
How are you about giving? Do you enjoy helping others when you are in a position to or do you feel as though you have worked too hard to get where you are so if they want what you have they can work to get there as well? “All good things come from above!” If God has allowed you to prosper you need to remember where that prosperity comes from and have an open heart to be used by Him to help those in need. I heard a man talking the other day and his comment was that you should never give to people on the street you should only give to organizations that help the poor so you know that the money is being used properly. Really? I must have missed that verse in the Bible because the ones I have read say things like; Matthew 6:30-31 “Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back. And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.” Now, sad to say if you gave to every single needy person you see today, you could be joining them because they are on every street corner, but when God pricks your heart to give or if you have become so numb to seeing the need and you aren’t allowing God to use you in that area, it is sin!
Ask God today to show you any area you are not following His lead in today and ask Him to reveal to you how you can better serve Him in all that He is asking you to do! The blessing of serving Him at the level you are called to will be beyond anything you can possibly imagine!
