1 Chronicles 14:14-16, so David inquired of God again, and God answered him. “Do not go directly after them, but circle around them and attack them in front of the poplar trees. As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the poplar trees, move out to battle, because that will mean God has gone out in front of you to strike the Philistine army. So David did as God commanded him, and they struck down the Philistine army, all the way from Gibeon to Gezer.
It can be so exciting when you can sense that your answer is so close that you just want to rush in and claim it, but don’t get ahead of God! Wait for it…!
Sometimes God’s answer seems to slide in and surprise you and sometimes you know it is on its way or you know what the answer is and you just want to rush over and open that door, but be careful not to get ahead of Him. Pray for God’s direction and timing. When you get ahead of Him you can end up in trouble. God’s timing is perfect. Pray and Praise! Focus on Him and seek His face so you can know when the time is right. I used to love watching my son play football when he was in high school and I remember how frustrated the coaches would get when someone on one of the teams would get too excited and bolt over the line before they hiked the ball and they would all have to line up again and someone paid the penalty for jumping the gun on the timing. Don’t do that with your answer!
If you are waiting and waiting and waiting and you are over it, don’t give up! As much as we all hate to hear it, “God’s timing is perfect and it is for a reason.” God is not just sitting there trying to cause you frustration, He has a reason why this is taking so long. Trust Him! You can know that His answer is coming and it is for your good and the good of others involved. As I have said before, too often we live with only this world view and we forget that everything God does is for eternity. Trust Him and pray for His strength and guidance. He sees, He cares, and He is working so you can know that truly His best is yet to come if you will just wait on Him!
