Walking Out Your Faith…. You Can Do This!

Psalm 69:3
I am weary with my crying out my throat is parched. My eyes grow dim with waiting for my God.

Psalm 69:30
I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify him with thanksgiving.
Are you waiting on God for something today and you are so weary of waiting on Him that you could just scream? It seems as though at times when you wait on God for something that the days get longer and longer until you start to doubt and Satan pounces in with all of his lies saying that God doesn’t care or God isn’t listening ~ don’t buy it!

If there is one thing David is known for above all else it is the fact that God called him a “man after God’s own heart”. Why do you think that is? David was a man that had so much bloodshed in his lifetime that he wasn’t allowed to build the temple, he was given the instructions for his son Solomon to do it. He took another man’s wife and had the man killed……. why was he called a man after God’s heart?

Have you ever read the book of Psalms? No, I mean really read it, not just the skim over it kind of reading where you read, “blah, blah, blah, …. praise Him with harp and lyre…. Selah. I mean, have you ever really read the Psalms and thought about what was going on when they were written and what was being said? It is amazing how real David was with God! One minute David is saying, “oh Lord, this is horrible, everyone including my brothers are out to kill me, I can’t take any more, my tears water my pillow all night, my throat is parched because of my crying and I am sick of waiting…… I will praise the Lord, my God, for all of His wondrous works, I will tell everyone of all of your great deeds, I will praise you all day long because you are so amazing, by the way…. kill all those who are coming after me, destroy them to the ends of the earth, let them be eaten by the dogs and birds of the field….. I will praise you until I am old and in the grave………….

David loved God so much and He never doubted God’s goodness or His love to the point that no matter what He was facing and no matter how tired He was of waiting on God, he constantly reminded himself and God that He knew God was wonderful, all powerful, able to deliver him and able to pour out revenge on David’s enemies. David, would interrupt himself to say how great God is and how wonderful God had always been to his people. He would remind himself of all the great things God had done for Israel and for David. His faith came from totally trusting God in all that He faced. He went to God for everything and never hesitated to be totally honest with where he was and yet showed God the honor due Him by praising and thanking Him continually. Walking out your faith requires you to remind yourself during the struggle who God is, what He has done and all He has promised to do.

One of the other reasons I believe that David was a man after God’s own heart was because when confronted with sin in his life David “owned it” and repented. We can’t just skip around the truth when it comes to any sin in our lives. Jesus paid the price on the cross for our sins the least we can do is show enough respect for Him to be repentant when we know we have sinned.

If you want to have a heart after God then pour your heart out to Him, tell Him all of your troubles and frustrations like you would your best friend, but take the time in the middle of all of that to remind yourself of Who you are talking to and praise and thank Him for Who He is, what He has done and all that He will do in your life. Remind yourself continuously of how great God is and praise Him for how Holy, Mighty and Wonderful He is. Allow your main focus to be on Him and Who He is, expect Him to care, be real in your walk with Him. Own your own sin and repent! Love God with your whole heart and know that He loves you more than you can comprehend! The world is too full of mamby, pamby Christians, my challenge to you today is to Get Real in your walk with Him!
