We Need His Wisdom, Discernment & Understanding

Proverbs 2:1-5, My son, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you, so that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; Yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding, If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

We would have to be spiritually blind not to recognize the days we live in. We need to fill our hearts and minds with the Word of God! It needs to be a priority! As it says in Joshua 1:8, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” I would encourage you to not to read that and think, “Cha-Ching!” Money! The best prosperity and success you can have in this life is the souls you help avoid Hell! Let’s set our sights on eternity vs. here and now!

Pray for discernment! We need godly discernment from the Holy Spirit in every area of our lives. Satan is a master of deception; he has been doing it for a long time and he knows he doesn’t have much time left. It breaks my heart when I see Christians post things that don’t line up with the Word of God. Before you repost something on your Social Media, make sure it is true and that it lines up with God’s Word. God has promised to give us the wisdom and discernment we need. We need to speak the truth in love and be the light! Yes, we live in the days of His grace because Jesus paid the price for our sins, but we will still stand before God one day, and we will have to account for how we lived for Him. Our gratitude for what Jesus has done for us should drive us to want to live for Him and to follow His Words! It should drive the stands we take! Christians should be appalled at the attack on children from the unborn on up! We cannot allow ourselves or our loved ones to be dragged into the world’s view of right and wrong; we must dig in and stand on the truth of God’s Word, and we must do it in love. As it says in Matthew 18:14, “It is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one f these little ones should perish.”

Let’s determine to saturate our hearts and minds with God. There is not a moment to spare. Let’s be sure to take advantage of the wonderful privilege we have to go to His throne in prayer for the lost all around us! Pray for the boldness and opportunities to reach out in love, to be His hands and feet, and share Him with anyone He leads us to. Open your heart and mind up to what He wants to do in and through you and don’t hold anything back! You can trust Him; He has proven that over and over! Think about this: when He comes, what do you want Him to find you doing? What would He find you watching or reading? How would he find you treating that spouse, or child, or maybe server, cashier, or maybe your employee?

Your Father in Heaven loves you, and He has offered to lead you through the chaos. He wants to use you and your story! He wants to help you shine and make Him proud! Satan is after you, and he wants to wear you out and wear you down so you can’t become all God created you to be, BUT GOD wants to build you up and give you the strength to become all He knows you are capable of becoming. So, as Solomon encouraged his son, I want to encourage you as well with His words from the verses above, “incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; Yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding, If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.”
