What Are You Feeling You Are Lacking

Matthew 15:32-38,  Jesus called his disciples to Him and said, “I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat.  I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way.”

His disciples answered, Where could we get enough bread in this remote place to feed such a crowd?”

“How many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked.

“Seven,” they replied, and a few small fish.”

He told the crowd to sit down on the ground.  Then He took the seven loaves and the fish, and when He had given thanks, He broke them and gave them to the disciples, and they in turn to the people.  They all ate and were satisfied.  Afterward, the disciples picked up Seven basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.  The number of those who ate was four thousand men, besides women and children.

The need in front of the disciples was beyond their comprehension of how it could possibly be met!  Jesus didn’t ask them for something they didn’t already have ~ he asked, “How many loaves do you have?”

What need do you or someone you care about have that is beyond your comprehension of how it could ever work out or that need be met?  Bring it to Him and bring what you have with it. If it is your finances, bring what you have, if it is your child bring him/her to Him, if it is your health bring it to Him ~ Bring everything to Him along with what you have and what you have done and allow Him to do what you can’t!  Let Him multiply what you have whether it is your finances, your talents, your time, your relationships, or whatever it may be allow Him to take what you have and turn it into all He created it to be!  He wants you to bring it to Him and trust Him!  Your faith and trust in Him will never grow if you don’t allow Him to work in your life.

Jesus not only fed the people there was more than enough because they brought Him what they had.  The disciples didn’t even have enough food to feed themselves and yet after thousands of people ate they still had seven basketfuls of food left over.

So, the question of the day is ~ who or what are you looking to meet your needs?  Is there someone or something that you think you need in order for your needs to be met or in order for you to fulfill what God is calling you to?  Don’t put someone on a pedestal as though they are your source.  There are people God puts in our lives for us to learn from but they are not our source for our finances or success in life.  God doesn’t put jobs or people or things in your life to become your god.  He alone is God and He wants you to always look to Him.  He loves you beyond words and He wants what is best for you and He wants you to rely on Him and walk with Him.

Whether you have/had or do/didn’t have a great Dad think about this:  if you have accepted Jesus as your Savior then God the Father wants to be your Dad…. He wants to show you things beyond your comprehension.  I remember my Dad teaching me how to read a map (the old fashion, do-it-yourself GPS) and it just totally amazed me how we could take a map and figure out how to get almost anywhere if we learned to just follow it.  God has a plan for you and He wants to show you how to read that map and on top of that He is willing to also go with you as He shows you.  He wants to show you and take you places no one else can take you and that you can’t get to on your own, but you must learn to trust Him.  Don’t put your trust in anyone or anything else ~ they are not your source!  God loves you and He wants to guide you and use your story for His glory!  Give it to Him, trust Him, follow Him, and do what He is showing you to do.  It won’t always be comfortable letting go of people or things that you may have grown to depend on, but they can’t “multiply what you have”, they can’t show you and guide you into all you are created to be on their own either.  Let God show you who He wants to help you with and who He is putting in your life to also walk with you.  If you want His best in your life then you must give Him all you have.  Don’t hold back one of those “loaves of bread” thinking you just can’t live without it (only you know what or who that may be ~I am not talking about family here, do not cut your family out of your life unless you are living with an abusive spouse then you need to seek Godly counsel and allow God to show you what to do, don’t just live with it), Trust Him and seek to know Him more so your faith and trust in Him will grow.  Start today by giving something or someone you have had a death grip on thinking you can’t live without it and trust Him to do what is best know that is how you will know that His best is yet to come!
